How Long Does Xarelto Continue Working In Your System? (Page 2)

I was on xarelto for 1 month. I was taking 20 mg for a blood clot that developed from my mediport. The med caused me to itch so bad that I was switched to lovenox inj's. After three day of being on the lovenox I am still itching. It has mainly been my hands and my feet. How long do these medications work in your system for?

Hello, Teresa! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

If you were on the Xarelto for a month, it could take a week or so for the side effects and reaction to stop.

However, you should be aware that the Lovenox could also cause itching, as a side effect, along with dizziness, headache and easy bruising.

In many cases, it's due to the change it makes to your circulation. The same can occur with other medications that affect your circulation, such as blood pressure and cardiac medications. But the side effects should wear off and improve after 4 week, or so, once your body gets used to the medication.
