How Long Does Oralcon Last In The Body? (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi there. I have been on oralcon for a few months, perhaps a little bit longer than a year. Things have gotten so hectic lately that i forgot to take some pills. I completely lost track of what pill I was on in the pack. I then decided to wait it out, get my period and then start taking them again and start "fresh" and keep proper track.
My cycles were always spot on and never longer for 3 days and 28 days in-between periods. I am however a week late. Stressing out here. What can this mean? No signs of it coming soon either?

Hello Irene,
First I'll answer your question, according to the FDA and NIH Oralcon has a half life cycle of approximately 36 hours and it is generally accepted that it takes between 4 and 6 cycles to completely leave your system. This means that the Oralcon should be completely out of your system between 6 and 9 days.
Since this medication works by introducing synthetic hormones into your body it makes sense that your menstrual cycle would need time to revert to normal after stopping this medication. Simply wait for your cycle to begin and then proceed with your plan to start administering your medication from the beginning. You may skip your first period while your body adjusts to having to rely on it's own hormone balancing, however, if you miss more than one cycle please consult your OBGYN or primary care doctor and see if there are underlying issues that need to be addressed.
I hope this helps. Have a pleasant day.
Hi, I forgot to take my daily oralcon pill yesterday. I normally take it 07:30 in the morning. Now I'm worried - I remembered it and took it after being intimate without protection, so what are the chances of been pregnant?
Hi, I recently had unprotected intercourse with my husband, but immediately and after getting intimate, I took 3 red pills and 2 white pills of Oralcon. Will they work as an emergency contraceptive?
Sure does help thanks.
I did bot intend to stop talking the pills and took approximately half of the packet before the "forgetting" started.
I have been intimated since and am concerned that it could lead to pregnancy. Would that be possible or should i first have my cycle before that is even a possibility?
Re: Irene (# 2)
Unfortunately these types of medications are only as effective as they claim to be if you are consistent with timing of administration. Even taking them every day at different times results in lowered protection. If you have had unprotected intercourse recently and you are concerned that you may be pregnant it may be in your best interest to take a test or see an obgyn.
Best wishes.
I missed taking the red pills last night. Will I be ok continuing my regimen as usual?
