How Long Do Augmentin Side Effects Last? (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Hi all,

Firstly a disclaimer, if you have just eaten and have a soft stomach, avoid this post. You've been warned.

My dentist prescribed a two week regime of Augmentin for minor work that needs to be performed on a tooth. I finished the prescription one week ago. And I still have some odd side effects.

Before I started taking this, I had a normal energy level where I could exercise and do my work, etc. Now I have wayyyyyy too much energy and even though I start to feel drowsy at my regular time when I got to bed, I can't fall asleep until 2 -3 hours later.

The other effect I've been experiencing are dry lips. This is annoying. There is no change in saliva and my mouth is just as moist as before taking Augmentin.

Also during the last three weeks it's been as my appetite has been suppressed, but now it has returned with a vengeance where I eat more a lot. It would be equivalent to opening the flood gates on a dam.

Here's the disgusting part.

I've noticed that the color of my feces has changed from a light brown to an extremely dark brown.

Other than that I've been taking a probiotic three times a day, which I started two days ago. And eating Greek yougurt.

So I would like to know, is it common for side effects to last after taking Augmentin? How long will they last? And if you have any ideas on this, please let me know.

I finished my last dose 2 days ago and started feeling the hunger pains 2 days before my last dose. It seems like no matter how much I eat the pain is still there. Giving it time to see if it goes away.

I was diagnosed of typhoid. D doc prescribed 500mg each for 5days, of intravenous injections of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole and 1g of augmentin to be taken orally for 7 days, morning and evening. Since I completed d dose I've been having fever, then later observed low energy. Sometimes I'm stable sometimes it gets worse What can I do as I feel this is a side effects of augmentin - it's been 10days. My stool is loose bt only once a day, nt serious so I'm nt concerned abt dat. Bt d fever and my general health is cause 4 concern

My husband is having the exact same issue. Taken for a spider bite, but the problem is that he has stopped it over a week ago and is still itching even after the doctor prescribed medicine to counter act the medicine. Did you ever find a solution to kill the spider venom?

I eat only 3 tablets 01g, but after this i cannot sleep from 2 night, what i do now, iam so much worried

I was prescribed 875 mg Augmentin and Clavulanate following my cat biting me (hand was swollen from bite). I took it with Probiotics and was on the 8th of a 10 day regimen of it when during the night I got the chills and then had a bout of vomiting. I immediately stopped it, went back to the urgent care clinic when I woke up with hives under my breasts and on my groin area. Other symptoms I had were vaginal irritation and soft stool. I had taken this medication before about a year ago and it caused me to have black stools but the most recent doctor told me to try it again. After stopping it this round, now going on three days ago, I continue to have abdominal pain and cramping. The hives are gone but the other irritation persists. The clinic told me to take Claritin and use an ointment for the hives. It was also suggested that I take ranitidine or Prilosec. I'm doing all this but the cramping is still bad. Just how much longer will this go on?

YESTERDAY I TOOK JUST ONE DOSE OF AUGMETON 1G.NOW I AM FACING THE PROBLEM OF WEAKNESS OF LIP, EYE AND CHEEK MUSCLES OF MY RIGHT SIDE.I DISCONTINUED..HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT TO GO TO DOCTOR IF NECESSARY. PLEASE.

I just finished a prescription of augmentin 875 -125 call for ten days, no problem, now It seems, I have a bladder infection!
I have been off it for about a week. Is it to soon to take another prescription of amoxicillin 500 three times a day for 10 days?

Wash the lesions with the palest pink solution of potassium permanganate in warm water. It will feel lovely. (Darker pink will burn). Then apply antibiotic ointment. Over!
( Diprogenta is a good ointment.)

I had this on my feet from a spider in DC. The cure was in Kenya, and instant.

See answer 51. Instant relief with PALEST pink potassium permanganate in warm water. Venom is not histamine. I had relief even after it had spread on my foot.

I took Augmentin for a toothache on 2-2-2016; 1 tab every 8 hours for 10 days. My stomach started hurting first, then my urine turned dark like root beer, I had bloody stool and threw up blood, my eyes turned yellow and my skin turned orange..I was hospitalized twice last year and once this year. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis to my liver.

My daughter was on augmenting for 10 days. The last day was Thursday of the medication was Thursday and then Friday it looked like mosquito all over her legs,arms , neck and a few on face. Some even looked raised and swollen. Now her one eye is swollen. Could this be a side affect of the medicine? She has been off the medicine for 3 days and is still itchy and has the spots.

this augmentine should be banned.i took it for dental treatment >..got an upset stomach....months im not the same .my ten year old nephew took it for uti woke up with super swollen eyes.......its a scary drug.stay away

Yes my 11 years. Old boy,the dr,prescribed augmentin, n he lost the apetite,he have abdominal pain,he have the urge to eat,but he cant,he have nausea n diarrea, weird!but he feel really bad

By the way, I returned to the doctor and told him what happened to me with the augmentin. He told me he did not know that the drug caused my issues and instructed me to take the drug again to see if I still had the same side effects!!! I told him I did not think so and have established a relationship with another doctor who told me immediately what had happened.

The effects of the drug lasted over 3 months, and I could not drive a car because I could not lift my legs to brake the car!!
