How Long Before I See Results? (Page 2)
UpdatedI was prescribed Lyrica today. Being the impatient person that I am, I was wondering the normal lenth of time before the medication starts working.
In my first post on Oct. 31, 2015 I mentioned I had very bad pain after my colonoscopy and that is why Lyrica and Imipramine were added to my usual 4 mgs. of Dilaudid QID. I suffered for nearly three months with these added shooting pains. After two doctors (my pain mgt. guy, his PA and my GI doc, I got the GI doc's PA. She concluded it was a musculoskeletal problem and prescribed 10 mgs. Flexeril (cyclobenzapine) TID. Two hours after my first dose I felt improvement. After three dose, the new pain was essentially gone! Three long and painful months cured, literally, overnight! In addition, adding the Lyrica 100 mgs. TID and 20 mgs. of Imipramine (Tofranil) to my regimen of Dilaudid (4 mgs. QID) has nearly eliminated the groin pain I've suffered with for exactly four years! I stopped the afterlife after a week because there was no need of it and the hangover from it is strong. I've gone to such detail because I think all chronic pain sufferers may benefit from hearing that my persistence paid off big time. My pain doc of four years had given up and was suggesting I try a pain pacemaker trial, Johns Hopkins or a trip to a special pain clinic in Florida for persistent groin pain. All of those choices would have been prohibitively expensive.
How much are you taking?
How many milligrams, how many times a day?
How much are you taking (milligrams ) how many times a day. How are you feeling? Side effects??
Hi my name is Neel I'm in kzn South Africa I've been on Lyrica 75mg for about a month now but no relief sometimes I take 2x75mg one at night and one in the morning.I suffer with pinched nerve sciatica I'm also on brazapam, mybulen and degronol, this as been on and off for abt 6years now. I have missed out on so many events I'm starting to think God doesnt exist. Please mind me for saying so but I prayed so much I'm only 39 do I've been this fro age 33.
Have you tried Miralax for your constipation? It's a really good product. I wish you well...
Miralax is excellent. But I've been on Dilaudud for several years and as good as Miralax is, I recently found that Walmart's Fiber Therapy capsules (same formula as Metamucil capsules) are the best thing I've tried. They are 100% Psyllium. I can't stand to drink the Metamucil powder in water. The capsules are easy to swallow. If your constipation is truly horrible, use a few Psyllium capsules along with a dose of Miralax. I think you will be as amazed and pleased as I was. Constipation from opiates is terrible, and I've eve used a prescription medication to alleviate it, but it didn't work.
Has to get in your system well. With me it starting working the fourth day. I started on 25 Mgs. Then had to increase to 50 two years later to get the same amount of pain relief. Then a year later 75 Mgs which is where I am now. At present, I've been on it 4 1/4 years. It doesn't relieve all the pain. I have to do my part and avoid foods that trigger fibro pain and migraine. I'd rather have pain control so that I can go out and about so I put up with the side effects of Lyrica.
People with two fibromyalgia also often have orthostatic hypotension. Which means if you get up quickly and start moving around, your blood pressure will fall and you'll feel faint.
So did it work? I just started using and seen no result. I am on day 3 and need to feel beter.
Have you tried glycerin suppositories? I've found them very beneficial and fast working.
I too have a lot of pain. Just found out its Mild nerve damage L5 spine. Doctor said usually people are not in that much pain from this. I also had a mri done just waiting for results. I hate pills but in extreme pain. She just bumped the lyrica up cause she is worried about permanent damage to leg due to walking funny due to pain. I know take 150 mg twice a day plus 100 mg at night.
I have fibromyalgia and been in pain for years, I'm hypothyroid. Do to having no thyroid. I'm on THR but it's not always good. I've been on Tramodol for pain for years, and it kept my pain tolerable with very little side affects. Moved to a new state and my New Doc wants me off of the tramodol and started me on Lyrica. Ive been on it for 2 weeks now, having blurred vision, constipation, and a little wt gain. She said all this will pass. I don't understand while she wants me to switch? Is lyrica less dangerous?
