I have a friend who takes suboxone & recently got a subutex given to him. I take suboxone myself but ive never heard of subutex until couple days ago. I would like to know how is subutex supposed to be taken? Under your tongue or do u swallow it? I am worried about my friend & i have searched every site possible on information on subutex but none of these sites say how it is suppose to be taken. what are the side effects of subutex? why do doctors give pregnant women subutex & not suboxone during pregnancy? i need to know any & all information on subutex. i have hidden the pill from my friend until i can try 2 find some information on it & he has been sick but i dont want anything bad to happen to him.also is subutex a small white round pill with number 8 on one side & an arrow on the other & does it come in any other forms or colors etc.? I'm desperate for answers!!!!!

It's subutex.... And I've been taking it over a year. And gone from 16mg daily down to 1.6mg daily and then back up to 4.
We don't get suboxone in the UK. Just subby - Or buprenorphine whichever you'd like to call it.

Anyone find that subby keeps them awake!!! I dosed off for a few hours earlier in the evening in the lounge and woke up - thought I'd go to bed while I was still drowsy and I've been laying in bed ever since!!
And that was one major essay...!!!

Bulls***, you can't die, I've been though it plenty of times, which I'm not proud about. So just because you felt like you were dying, it was your withdrawal times ten, instead of a withdrawal, for ten times the amount of time. I'd rather go through it, hard, and be done. I went over a week without sleep, food, and little water from a oxy withdrawal, and I went through a precipitated withdrawal, three times, both sucked, but I'd take the fast, horrible one any day. It's fire your playing with, and I've now been clean for 4 years 4 months and 19 days. Subutex is my life saver.

Subutex and saboxone are pretty much exactly the same apart from saboxone has neltraxon in it which is a blocker so you would take it and treat it the same way the reason they swap saboxone for subutex is because they have done more testing on pregnant people whilst on subutex and they are not sure about the saboxone on pregnant ladies as their has been very limited testing regarding the neltraxon that has been put in the saboxone but please give your friend their medication as they will be very ill threw withdrawing from the bupermorphine in it and subutex comes in loads of different shapes depending on the manufacturing company hope this helps :-)

Subutex is buprenorphine which is an opioid derivative. Suboxone is buprenorphine PLUS naloxone which is an opiate blocker.naloxone can be dangerous for a fetus which is why pregnant women are given subutex.

I have taken SUBUTEX for a little over 6 years now. Subutex is usually given in an impatient environment, and when you're discharged, you then go on Suboxone. I had a lot of bad side effects with the Suboxone and my Dr. Trusted me enough to prescribe Subutex to me as an out patient. I still see my Dr. Once a month and also go thru a counseling program which is required if you're in Subutex or Suboxone. They are BOTH (Subutex & Suboxone) suppose to be taken sublingualy. (Dissolve under your tongue). Suboxone contains Buprenorphine & Naloxone. Subutex is Bulrenorphine alone. Meaning....Naloxone blocks the opiate receptors in the brain and it is present in Suboxone to prevent misuse of the drug. If injected, the Naloxone will create a withdrawal feeling over the patient and it feels like the worst flu and sickness you could imagine. Subutex has Buprenorphine alone which can lead to misuse of the drug...so that's why Suboxobe is given in an outpatient setting and Subutex in an impatient setting.
But to answer your question. The safest and best way....and prescribed way to take both (Subutex & Suboxone), is to dissolve under your tongue.

U explained a lot but u dragged this on for no reason ... I've been on subutex for 4 years ... U take it under ur tongue and it doesn't need to be there for an HOUR it just needs to dissolve which it does pretty quickly ... Usually 15-20 minutes ... Suboxon is good but the with drawl from that sucks so I enjoy my subutex. ..its just as good and it doesn't taste like shyyit ... Don't ever hide medication from someone whose already on suboxon just because u don't know what it is ur f***ing stupid for that .... Its not ur call to do anything like that ... I would kick ur f***g a$$ for pullin shyit like that and ur friend being sick makes u even more of a scumbag ... Give him his medication and let it be ... Its prescribed for a reason dumba$$...

Well my opinion is that there is definitely something that differs the big one and the one with the 8 even though both of them are 8mg the small one seems to have a little more kick or maybe a ingredient that isn't in the big one Ii preferably like the big one better it seems to have a lot better effect on me than the other. I'm going to take either when withdrawing though.

You CAN NOT DIE FROM OPIOD WITHDRAWAL. You may feel like you want to die, but you won't. You can die from alcohol withdrawal and benzo withdrawal. Please don't give random info you were told or thought. Know the facts. This is hard enough for those who are addicts and the people that love them

Swallow NO PART OF THE SUBUTEX pill!!! I almost died 3 nights ago from this mistake. Was on 300 mg methadone for 8 yrs and off for 4 days after tapering down to 160 then 90 then 50 - the opioid receptors were ripped off my brain andfrom swallowing a mushy bit of the SUBUTEX that wouldn't dissolve I went into precipitated withdrawal with is a leading cause of death. My drs office said they had never met anyone who lived to tell this tale - I'm still in tears over it. I'm a single Mom, live with just my 10 yr old and trying for a better life - methadone is eating my bones by preventing vitamin D intake therefore negating any calcium I consume - and I'm only 44! Thank God I stopped before methodone before I lost my looks and life!!!

I really don't think that the person she is hiding the pill from is going to die, if you look closer you will notice that she said her friend was given one, not prescribed one. You can't subscribe just one pill anyways.

Tell us how you really feel. (Actually, that honestly was very informative and explained a lot of my curiousities about the medication. Mate believe me swallowing subutex does not work, the stomach acid absorbs it faster than it can get in your blood stream. I'm an addict. I'm absent from both crack and herion and worse, methadone... thank f***. but I am on subutex and under the tounge is the most affective and medically approved way... but like me when I got chucked in jail I had to do a raw rattle off £2000 a day crack and herion addiction, mostly crack and methadone benzos and psychotics. my point is when I was a month clean my fellow lifers were taking subutex, so I tried it. Tolerance builds up and you do it to stop rattling (w.d). my most valid point try not to use any drugs ANY as if you don't already know it f***s your health but you don't feel it as any opiates are painkillers so you mask any underlining illnesses you have. be safe people. be aware of what and how you put in your body. In England there's an old skool saying YOU WEREN'T BORN WITH CHEMICALS IN YOU SO WHY DIE WITH CHEMICALS IN YOU!!!!
