How Do I Get Generic?!?

I have a prescription for 20mg Opana ERs, and strongly desire to get the newer "generic" version. The "G 73" tablets work better for me, and are more inexpensive. My doctor has checked the product selection permitted box at the bottom of the actual prescription, which I thought meant that a generic version is allowed, but am still having problems. I have a friend that told me that the prescription must read "oxymorphone", and not "opana" in order to get the generic version. Is this true?!?

No, it doesn't have to be written for the generic/active ingredient to get the generic.

However, it depends on whether or not your pharmacy carries it. Have you asked the pharmacist?

Did they tell you that they can't give you a generic?

Learn more Opana details here.

You really need to find out what is going on at the pharmacy to get your answer.
