it is now the 6th day... applied antibiotic ointment yet the wound is still wet and prickingly painful when moved

Hi, Leonard! Sorry about the burn.

However, a third degree burn wouldn't be painful and would be such a deep burn into your muscle tissue that it would require medical attention.

If it's wet and painful, then it's most likely a second degree burn. If that's the case, then you need to keep it clean and cool. However, there is no way to cure it, it will only heal with time.

Have you had your doctor check it out? You should do so, just to be certain it doesn't get infected.

Aloe Vera gel can also be very soothing.
