how long can you take ms-contin
It's really entirely up to you and your doctor, there is no set time frame, it all depends on how well it works for you and whether or not it has caused you any problems.
If you're blood work has come back good and your doctor sees no reason to worry, then there likely isn't one.
Have you talked to them about your concerns?

Re: Bill (# 1)
Not really any expirations on how long you can take this med. Ive been pain managed for 21 years. 15yrs with same Dr. Im taking MS Contin for all 15 yrs with him. Your labs are good and needs to be done about every 3 months. Remember oral meds are processed thru the liver, kidneys, etc.. There are possible effects on these organs. Most likely the organ may tend to process less milligram over time. For instance taking 100mg MS Contin, by the time it travels thru stomach and is processed thru organs, in the very beginning of taking these meds your actually only getting about 90% of the actual dosage.. Your more then likely just fine, questions should always be asked and answered by your physician prescribing any medications. If you dont feel they are being honest or thorough, then keep asking, do research, Never be afraid to ask your Dr anything, there are no stupid questions, and they should always be 100% open and honest and more then willing to share all info with you. Best wishes.
