How Long Before Clindamycin Starts To Work?

I have an abscess in my anal region. I was prescribed Clindamycin and this is my fourth day taking it 3 times a day. I had a small swallow and now it has become big and painful. I was wondering if this medicine works and if so, how long it takes because everyday the pain is going up.

Generally, if an antibiotic is working, you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days and no worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, thus, you should likely return to your doctor as this might not be the right medication to help you.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

I had the nail on my big toe removed and now I have an infection and the toe is red and a little swollen still. I'm taking clindamycin 8 tablets a day. How long before the redness and swelling will go away. Also will soaking it in Epsom salt help.
