When a doctor ripped up my pain scripts/without warning or detox I'd legally taken for over 10 yrs I went from 98% function to 2% I felt as though I had /was being electrocuted.the Md at the ER said pain causes your brain to change and things you'd never do /feel can be real.I am on a contract pain regimen.I broke my hip.had type 2diabetes neuropathy,with my allergies I couldn't take the other meds.people who know me know I push myself yet others only see what they want

@Dakota,

Sorry to hear about your situation. According to a news article on ScienceDaily, "'If you are a chronic pain patient, you have pain 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every minute of your life," Chialvo said. "That permanent perception of pain in your brain makes these areas in your brain continuously active. This continuous dysfunction in the equilibrium of the brain can change the wiring forever and could hurt the brain."

"Chialvo hypothesized the subsequent changes in wiring may make it harder for you to make a decision or be in a good mood to get up in the morning. It could be that pain produces depression and the other reported abnormalities because it disturbs the balance of the brain as a whole."

Ref: sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/02/080205171755.htm

Based on this information, it seems as though a change in thought patterns and perception (through repetitive thinking and behavior) may be an essential factor when it comes to getting rid of pain. This is what I ended up grasping from the article anyways. Hopefully this info helps in any way!
