Is histodor cream good for Eczema?

Both of the active ingredients found in this medication are in a class of medications called antihistamines; which work by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.

That said, although Histodor Cream (Diphenhydramine + Mepyramine) may help with some symptoms of Eczema, it may not be the best solution for complete overall treatment.

This is because Eczema is not caused by allergies. It is more over due to a hypersensitivity reaction (similar to an allergy) in the skin. The condition tends to get worse when the person is exposed to certain triggers.

Most causes of atopic dermatitis (eczema) are treated with medications that are placed directly on the skin or scalp (called topical medicines). A mild cortisone (or steroid) cream or ointment is generally the first line of treatment in this regard.
