Hi Blood Pressure And Antibiotics

My mother in law is 93, she has an infection and was give cephalexin. Will this be harmful because she is on heart medicine and high blood pressure pills

Because I am not a doctor, I can only offer my research-based opinion to you. Every medication effects each individual differently, so determining if prescribed medication is going to be harmful or not can only be tested from trial and error.

Many doctors prescribe a certain medication to patients based on their medical records, health, and determining whether or not the medication the patient is currently on will conflict with what they choose to prescribe; as well as various other methods used to make this informed decision.

That said, the doctor "should" not prescribe a medication that has contradictions towards those other types of pills. Unfortunately, in any medical situation, a patient has to be their own best advocate; because there are some doctors that often prescribe medications according to their experience with how well something has worked for other patients and, when something goes wrong, they are often reluctant to attribute it to the medication.

In any case, I would suggest contacting her doctor if you do notice any sort of problems that were not apparent before she started taking the medication.
