Re: Etech (# 185) Expand Referenced Message

Hi, I have a question?..it's not directly to your statement.....I notice others say they have to go to pain management doctor every month for refills..I take my son to pain management doctor here in Florida,..he doesn't drive, disabled...anyways he gets 3 lortab 10s a day.and we go every 3 months, never well only once at the beginning for a U/A. And not once have we been told to bring in his medication for a count....so is it just different state laws, or just up to the doctor??. If anywhere would they be tought on would be her in southwest Florida, we had pain management doctor on every corner with cars and people lined up, it' was crazy because I was going to pain management back then and I'm serious I'd leave the doctors office and go get my scripts filled and I started to notice that the people who were in the office and then to the pharmacy it's like the two were connect, I don't know..but thx for the info..

Re: Etech (# 185) Expand Referenced Message

Guess what I know others who are stock piling as well and in some cases it may be good to do so. I hear of wars and such where you will never be able to get any medicine. So can’t knock you for that.

Hello all in here speaking of long term opiate use. I would like to reply to most in here so instead I will reply to all that know who I am speaking of. I resent the fact that the feds MAKE you go every month to receive them and if you don't, I've heard "Well you don't really need them then". I believe pain meds should be taken as needed.not on a methodic every day basis. What I have done had been going for about 6 to 8 months every month to receive whatever they will prescribe, then stockpile them and eventually quit going to the doctor. That gives plenty of time for the body to metabolize them. I've been doing this since 1993, I'm a little older now and take that into consideration too.

Sorry Beth this doesn’t apply to you I just didn’t no how to start a new topic on here although it really isn’t knew at all. To those who read my story on the Sackler family who are billionaire makers of OxyContin and do not give a rats a** about you, their name was removed today at the LOUVRE MUSEUM in France in which they donated millions, because their profits above people have caused numerous deaths. Just wanted to clear this up again for those who blame the addicted kids.

Re: Archie (# 182) Expand Referenced Message

Plz sir, go online or google it, narcotics/opiates and they're effects on my body, long term or short. It will break it down for you, easy to read and understand!! To answer you, YES OPIATES HAVE DETERMINABLE side effects!! They most definitely damage the Liver and Kidneys. So a person needs to really take them with caution!!! When you no longer need pain medication, do your body a favor and withdraw!!! I've had 10 surgeries in 6 yrs!!! Barely heal from one & have to undergo another! So barely get off them and back on! I came up with my own detoxification, taking 2 mg Buprenorphine, 1 a day. Now last yr. my Dr wrote it for 'as needed'. I taper myself off in about a month or longer, then I feel good again!! Hallelujah! Btw...if you're taking the kind that has tylenol in it, you're getting a double whammy! Tylenol is very dangerous to the Liver. Good Luck!!!

Re: Hop (# 179) Expand Referenced Message

My question is why is everyone on here taking opioids for ten plus years? Has surgery been considered? If not this is the perfect example in how the DOCTORS are to blame for giving out then taking away your drugs. Personally I would not want to be strung out for ten plus years on meds. There are alternatives to opioids. Pain and depression are side effects from them. The more you take them the more pain you have. This is how Big Pharma makes their money. More pain more pills. Sometimes you need physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, even CBD either in conjunction with pain meds or at least try to do other things. MS and things of that nature is horrible pain as well as RA in which these have no cure. But back pain loose discs etc... need surgery. Seems most here have legit pain but some here just want drugs from what I read.

I was in court today went with a friend to comfort her and they called a case involving a 21 year old skinny little thing via satellite tv from jail. She was scared and crying on the video and the reason she was in jail because she was in possession of heroin and broke probation. My heart bled for her. She didn’t need jail but rehab. This is what I mean when I say the system is broke. Nobody cares and I wanted to just hug her. I started to cry and the judge looked to me and he said to transfer her out ASAP to a rehab. I didn’t know this girl but my gasp got attention. I know this has nothing to do with adult chronic pain, just wanted to show you the system is broken when you want help.

Re: What to do (# 178) Expand Referenced Message

It does not seem right that all pain patients are being given the same doses. Everyone metabolizes medication at different rates. We are being treated with a one size fits all fixed amount. Additionally the amounts are decreased with each visit. Soon we will have all pain patients without medication and no longer able to function or enjoy a decent quality of life. I was on the same dosage of medication for 13 years and now I am unable to work because the pain is returning and every third day I start withdrawal symptoms. Not to mention how it affects thinking and mood! No one is considering the depression that will set in. The doctors should be fighting back as well because they are being questioned for each script written so they are turning their backs on their patients needs. One day in the not distant future pain management won’t even be a specialty. They paid for many years of education and should be able to decide what is best for each patient on an individualized basis.

Re: ROBIN SHINE (# 173) Expand Referenced Message

I understand, my situation is similar. I was always given 3 boxes of fentanyl patches because after 48 hrs I had metabolized all of the meds. I was told I had to make it to 72 hours and reduce the dosage. I can make it to 60 hrs when lucky. By the time 72 hours comes I have to wait 12 hours for relief because my body has little if any of the medication left. It’s like starting withdrawal every 48 hours. So for every 2 days of functioning, I
suffer for almost 2 days until I feel better. The patches fall off frequently due to the increased sweating and high temperatures outside. I have never abused my prescription medication. I had been on same dosage for 13 years until the doctor told me I had to reduce the amount and extend the dosage. Then my pharmacy delays filling my prescription for 10 days saying it’s out of stock and my insurance won’t cover the medicine anymore. My doctor wanted me to go to a Suboxone clinic rather than titer off slowly. I refused; besides my insurance wouldn’t cover that either.

If all these states were able to get medival marajuana on the ballot and get marajuana legalized fully in some states why can we not get opoids on the ballot in amounts that are therapeutic! Thats right, it is diffetent for everyone but they want us to have a one size fits all. If it was shoes, with my large size ten; everything would be too small jusy like opoids are for sooo many

I cannot get my prescription due to red tape that has had me waiting for over a week. I am weaning off fentanyl duragesic patches after 13 years at same dosage. The doctor prescribed a dose that is just starting to be made so there is not enough supply to meet demand. The pharmacy didn’t bother to tell me until 5 days had passed. They just kept saying we are ordering it. So the pharmacist recommended that the pain management doctor write 2 scripts that combined would be my new lower dosage. No one said I would need prior authorization to fill one of the scripts as it is a new dosage. So two more days have gone by and soon I will be in full blown withdrawal due to laziness of the workers at big name pharmacy (starting with a W) as well as office workers at my pain management doctors office. I am doing what I am told to do. I am complying with the new guidelines. How come no one is held responsible for getting the meds to patients on time? Looking for any suggestions here. Thank you.

I may have been prescribed my pain meds for over 2 d Cade's, only to be told I can't have it anymore... not even weaned off. The Doctor put me through withdrawals... they were horrible, and I never did a thing to deserve it. After almost a year, I have been in constant , sometimes acute pain... all document d. Why can't I have my pain medication?! Vintageladyhd

Re: Charlene (# 172) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you Charlene. I feel sorry not for just the kids. (I call them kids and I’m a bit older than you.). But for all who are addicted not by their own fault either. I live in a state where there is really no help, and if there is they keep you for 3 days and/or you just sign yourself out. From what I have witnessed or heard withdrawals are like death. In fact 95% of kids can’t take it. They would rather be dead than go through this. I understand. I’ve never experienced it but I get it. It’s also a mood lifter and there are many people who are depressed in this day and age. But to blame addicts does not make any sense to me. No dealers no addicts. Not in the cases of the people who live with chronic pain. its the DOCTORS who are at fault and that comes from the AMA who are the ones cracking down. This is not a “young kid addicted problem.” Doctors don’t give them pills. Oh there are a million stories I know of parents whom I meet in the cemetery it just breaks my heart. Thanks Charlene. Thank you for sticking up for me and in previous posts as well for my nephew. He’s smiling at you right now.

THE WITCH HUNT AGAINST DOCTORS PRESCRIBING FENTANYL PATCHES IS CRAZY. NO DOCTOR IS RECKLESS IN PRESCRIBING, THE PATCHES TAKE MANY HOURS TO BECOME GRADUALLY EFFECTIVE AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE OVERDOSES FROM THE MEDICATION. IF THEY MIX MEDS, THEY ARE SUICIDAL! DON'T PUNISH US! THOSE OF US WHO HAVE BODIES THAT PROCESS THIS MEDICATION QUICKLY - IT IS OUT OF OUR SYSTEMS IN 36 HOURS. I HAVE BEEN ON FENTANYL FOR 17 YEARS AND REDUCED DOSAGE AS BEST I COULD. HAVE SPENT 4 MONTHS TRYING TO FIND A NEW DOCTOR TO PRESCRIBE. PAIN GETS UNBEARABLE AND HAVE BEEN IN HOSPITAL FOR WITHDRAWAL COMPLICATIONS. STILL NO DOCTOR WILL PRESCRIBE THE LEVEL I NEED - AND IT IS NOT A CHOICE. IT SIMPLY IS. I NEED TO FUNCTION. I AM NOT JOYPOPPING PATCHES!

Re: Bella (# 161) Expand Referenced Message

Again bella, kudos for sticking up for the kids, I'm 59 and was one who started out with real pain and went to pain management too..got addiction to pain pills and now on buprenorphine. What people need to do is be more knowledgeable on what they say when it comes to addiction...so thanks for sticking up for people young and older like me who can either get addicted or not....then most are just dependent on their medications to live a quality life..I live in southwest Florida when the pain management clinics were popping up everywhere....and I am sorry for your loss

Re: Marin5 (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

I was taken off my Norco 10/325 last year. I read on here to try kratom powder. Red vein kratom for pain, white kratom for energy. It works but doesn't last long. It's better than anything I have tried. Some make the tea but it works faster taking powder. I wash it down with coffee every morning and it gets me going. I am 62 yrs old with a lot of chronic pain. Good luck.
