Help For Constipation While On Contrave (Top voted first)
UpdatedPlease advise. I'm day 3 off contrave and constipation has set in! What do you all use to ease constipation?

I have taken Contrave for one week and have had constipation. I must admit that I have not been drinking enough water though. I started taking stool softeners every day, from one to three daily. I've had bouts of constipation in the past, and my gastroenterologist said it is safe to take stool softeners daily. I did take two laxatives last week, but that was too much! I usually adjust my stool softeners--I take one in the morning; if no results, I take another that night. Then, if no results, I take two more the next morning. I think it is recommended not to take more than three in a twenty-four hour period. Today, I have made the decision to drink lots more water; I don't think I'll need as many stool softeners if I do that.
I drink room temperature organic prune juice every morning. I had an extreme bout of constipation before until I took a laxative then used prune juice later in the day because the constipation was coming back. Haven't had much problems now with constipation if I drink some in the morning to get everything moving from my system from the night before.
I started Contrave (the 2 meds separately) in November 2021. Constipation started end of January 2022. It’s awful. I’m taking Metamucil gummies and eating prunes. Is anyone having this problem?
Note: I take the Wellbutrin 3x/day and the other med 1x/day.
When it comes to constipation, it's also possible that the gut simply doesn't have enough digestive enzymes to metabolize whatever food is stored in it. So supplementing with enzymes/fiber/probiotics, staying hydrated, and eating more fresh raw fruits/veggies (via juicing) are probably some of the best things you can do to promote intestinal health and regulate bowel movements. I find epsom salt baths to be helpful as well. I think they're good for relaxing the stomach/pelvic muscles, perhaps making it a little easier to go.
Hope this helps!
