Help Finding Prescription For Xanax In Richmond, Virginia

I’ve been on Xanax during a few rough times for me in the past. I had a good psychiatrist (who is now retired) who would prescribe it for up to two months followed by a one-month taper plus gabapentin to reduce side effects of coming off of it. I lost my job a few months ago, still go to therapy for help using CBT for anxiety, but it’s become significantly worse now with money becoming very tight and still not finding anything. I’m now having multiple daily panic attacks and it’s effecting my ability to perform in the few job interviews I’ve been able to get. I haven’t been on any medications for a while and I don’t have a GP. I can’t take anti-depressants that help with anxiety because I’m in the 5-8% of patients with a clear history of anti-depressant causing bipolar mania. I’ve had intakes with 4 different clinicians (two NP’s, two Psychiatrist) and none of them will prescribe Xanax even for as short as two weeks. A few of them have said the opioid crisis has caused a lot of scrutiny on benzos. Does anyone know of any gp, psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner who does still prescribe it in the Richmond, Area? I can’t afford to just keep signing up for new patient appointments if there’s not a reasonable chance they can prescribe it. And each of the last 4 said they don’t discuss what medications they will prescribe without being seen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well this is an interesting site which lists what Doctors in your area have and do prescribe:

Hello, Max! How are you? I am very sorry about everything you have been going through.
However, them not wanting to discuss medications, without you being seen is entirely normal. Medical professionals do have to be very careful and if you call and ask them to prescribe any certain medication, most of them will view that as drug seeking behavior.
The FDA warns that Xanax carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, irritability, and dizziness.
Have you considered getting a new GP, so you can have them do a referral? I know it isn't cheap, but sometimes we have to toe the line. I've been there, and it sucked, cost me a lot of money that I couldn't afford.
