Help Needed In Jacksonville
UpdatedHi everyone. I located in Jacksonville Florida and have been unable to find my pain medications for over a month. My quality of life has decreased tremendously over this short time. I've reached the point where I dread a new day arriving because that means I have to do the pharmacy crawl and be treated like a pariah. I'm 38 and have been living in chronic pain for all over 10 years but have only been taking narcotic pain medicine for around 2 yyears. I don't drink or smoke and was extremely hesitant to even try narcotic pain medications so I tried just about everything else out there and wasted a lot of time and money on different creams, oils, devices, etc to relieve my pain with no success. I finally broke down and decided to try narcotic pain medication after my son turned 2 and wanted to play but I would have to usually tell him that I was hurting too much to play which saddened him and killed me inside. I have worked with my doctor the last couple of years and we finally found a combination of meds that offered me the most relief with the least impactful side effects. Unfortunately being prescribed these medications automatically means that you will be looked at as just a pos drug addict by most pharmacists. I would literally give up both of my nuts to be pain free, but that isn't a realistic option so I take these meds to increase my quality of life and to be a productive citizen. Since being on these medications, not only can I actively play with my son, but I have been able to go back to school and am scheduled to graduate from UNF this spring while working part time. I would have never been able to do this without pain medications. Unfortunately I lost my job because I was no longer able to do it anymore without my pain medications. Thankfully this happened during my winter break so my withdrawals and subsequent increase in daily pain levels did not impact my education last semester. Unfortunately this semester started January 6th and I was still unable to find any pharmacy willing to help. I had been going to the same publix and after telling me to check back almost every day for a month(pharmacist would not call me or tell me anything over phone even though she knew me so I had to drive up there every time) she nonchalantly tells me that they are not going to carry my medications any more. She didn't even offer a fake apology for the situation. I've tried over 40 pharmacies since and either get told they don't carry them, are out of stock, or only have enough for their regulars. I'm lucky if I sleep a total of 3 hours a night and those 3 hours are not 3 straight hours. I'm not able to be the father I want to be because I'm in too much pain to play with my son. I'm having difficulties in class now because the pain makes it extremely difficult to focus in class and when trying to study at home. I'm sorry for my rambling post. I know I'm not alone but that does not make me feel better. If anything it makes me depressed thinking about the countless number of people that are unable to get help. If anyone in Jacksonville is able to help or if you are going through the same things and want to talk to someone who understands and judge unlike most other people please respond here or mail me at {edited for privacy}. May God bless you all.

Unfortunately, a shortage almost always occurs for the last few months of the year and the first few weeks of the new one, due to mandatory manufacturing limits.
As to the pharmacies you checked, did you actually go in person, or did you call?
Because, if you called, the you likely didn't get an honest answer. They have no way of knowing if the person on the phone is a legitimate customer with a need, or a potential thief, so they will usually just say that they don't carry it.
