Help Finding Pain Management Dr In South Florida Who Takes Patients Under 25 Years Old
Updatedabout 8 months ago i left my pain management dr in stuart called stuart paint management and i got hit by a drunk driver and ontop of the problems i already had with my neck and back got worse and now can add S1 disc herniation and a ruptured and cracked L5 as well and for the court case i had the prosecuting lawyers made me switch from my pain management dr and go to theres to verify my injuries and also made me get a new MRi and there drs saw how messed up i was but took me off what i had been getting for the past year oxycodone 30mg and switched me to all these different patches and tramadol and percoset 10mg so now that my case is over i tried to go back to my old dr to get back on the medication that was actually working for me and was thrilled that i was going to no longer be in as much pain as i was however when i called to make an appointment the office either changed locations or something happend because the number says its been disconnected so i am trying to find a new dr (im willing to drive anywhere from hollywood florida all the way up to palm beach gardens) but one of the problems im having is that im under the age of 25 in 23 years old and most of the drs offices i call wont take patients under the age of 25 and i finally found one and everything was going perfect but they said that in the system it showed up that i hadnt filled for the oxycodone 30mg before and asked me to go home and get one of my prescription bottles so they could verify that i had been on the medication before but i looked and looked and couldnt find any of my old bottles and because they put this new system in place after i had been precribed it last so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or knew of any drs that you know of that will take patients under the age of 25 and if you think i should just say that i have never been prescribed it before and just show them all the stuff this last dr had been prescribing me for the past 8 months during this court case or if i should just say that i have been on nothing at all and this is my first time going to a pain management dr? any suggestions would help thank you so much!

There are a couple of issues going on here and I know you weren't doing anything deliberately, but I will explain what they are, so hopefully you can avoid them in the future and get the help you need. I really hate to see anyone suffering.
On the other side's making you see a different doctor, yes they can make you see their doctor for tests and confirmation of your injuries, but that actually did not mean that you had to leave your doctor and accept prescriptions/treatment from their doctor. You could continued to get treatment from your doctor, while just seeing theirs for the tests and avoided this whole issue. Your own attorney should have advised you of that.
And on the refusing to see you if you're under 25, that's really just an excuse they are using to not let you get in the door. They usually do this type of thing when they suspect that someone may just be drug seeking. No, I'm not saying that's why you are doing, but you may have said something that made them fear that you were, such as telling them that Oxycodone was prescribed for you in the past and asking if they'll prescribe it for you.
The laws are very strict and it is very risky for a doctor to prescribe such medications to someone if they have even the slightest reason to suspect that the person may not be being honest and up front.
Learn more Oxycodone details here.
And that leads me to the last one, where they didn't believe it had ever been prescribed for you before. They basically told you to go home and find a bottle to prove it, because they wanted to call your bluff. If the only records they received were the ones from the other doctor in the court case and not the doctor that prescribed it, then they clearly didn't believe you.
However, in that case what you can do is go to the pharmacy that filled the prescriptions and they will be able to give you a printout of the medications you've had filled there over the past few years. That should easily solve that problem, you don't actually need one of your old bottles.
So, you need to make sure that you aren't asking for any specific medications, when you set up an appointment with a new doctor. And get together all of the records that you can, including printouts from the pharmacy you used, if you used more than one, then get printouts from all of them and add them to your medical records file.
Get yourself in the door for an appointment first, then when they have the records that provide proof, you can discuss your treatment options. Once they see what medications have and haven't worked for you, as documented by fellow physicians, they will be more understanding and many will actually prescribe accordingly.
Are there any other questions or comments?
