Healthcare Laws Not For Mentally Disabled Agency Vs. Indepe
UpdatedGovernor Kasich is proposing a 5 year transition plan that is forcing Medicaid patients to go with Health Care Agencies. First with agencies you don't have access to workers background checks, their addresses even! Yet they come into your home to care for the most disabled. Independent workers: You have their personal information and they answer to YOU. When agency workers are fired and choose to harass patients for it, you have their name and address for the police. Not so with agencies. WHY is there a push towards agencies in Ohio? There is no VALID reason. Not for us to know. They say there are more independent workers who defraud but we've had 2 great independent nurses who are angels but aides from agencies we've had to fire one after another. They've lied, cheated and stole. Right now the last one is calling and hanging up on this poor disabled patient because I had to fire her. Also the waiver doesn't provide for mentally ill as agencies won't allow aides to go with patients to the doctors. For patients who forget what the doctor said, forget scripts or follow up appts. They need someone to accompany them, but agencies don't want to pay their car liability insurance out of their profits. The waiver doesn't provide this need for mentally ill or cognitively impaired. Yet the laws blindly move forward. I've written to Legislators about this but they don't even REPLY to me! One did but only to say I'm not in their district even though they are over Ohio and we live in Ohio.
