Harvoni Side Effects (Page 33) (Top voted first)

I have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you

Lou, the side effects from the HepC itself???? I doubt that. We have one guy in our group that unfortunately has to be in the VA health system, but had NO problems from Hep. He was just considered a "perfect candidate" and he now is a mess, and can't get anyone to listen to him. Leg problems.... That seems to be a side effect just about all of us have. Swelling so docs look for blood clots, and painful nerve problems that also docs look for but again find no reason. Also chest/heart pain. I am one of the few that my primary doc will listen to me, check for reasons, but finds nothing. But he at least listens, most docs give up.

In my group ALL of us wish we never took Harvoni! It has destroyed all our lives.

Jj, I have the same hip pain, going in 6 months post treatment as well as a slew of other problems, about 30.different side effects truth be told. Harvoni ruined my life. I cant even go through all of them individually anymore because they all have such a negative impact on a life that was once bearable,,, now,,, not even close... I use the VA as my primary medical care but if I had my choice to make all over again, I would run, run fast,,, of course that was when I could walk,,, this has been a killer drug in every way I can think of, I also believe it will be the death of me as well,,, I am a shell of what I was, not even a shell,,, maybe a half of an egg shell... Good luck, I will keep you in my prayers as well,,, take care

Well i am on day 46. I'm not feeling as bad as i did with the first few weeks of taking this med. My viral load is o, yea i'm still weak, i push myself, did work, i have to keep my ins, or i'm screwed. I work in the oil and gas service industry. 14 hours plus some on days that i am in the field. I am 59 years old, with no support from anyone other than my docs. My company doesn't give a s***; work or leave. The gi doc wants me on light duty. My company will not honor it, because there is not any light duty in this line of work. Some days i feel really good, then there are bad days. I only drink water, lots of bottled water. I don't trust the water in new mexico at all. I have high blood psi, and fylmbro, and 2 disks out in my back, and other things but yet i continue to work. So all these bad reviews on this med i guess i don't buy them. Maybe these people are lazy and don't want to work. Yea i'd like to get a ssi check, cause i got to be crazy.

Sorry if you think I have misunderstood anyone on this site. I am not judging anyone!! If you know anything about my past life u would understand. Yea im a vet too. Many of my friends have taken what the va gives them. 9 months of hell. I had 2 friends get the old treatment, one with a stage 4 liver problem. Sad he stopped because he wanted to die. With the interferon treatments, I hope and pray that I am a lucky one, as I sit here with no support and today depressed. My pain meds are not working and my thoughts are not right. I guess work's good, even though I hate my job, yea. I've been to some places on this earth, and seen things that the walking dead wouldn't even touch, so I only let god judge, and pray, take pills, just try to do the right thing. If I get all these bad side effects for this med, at least it's documented. Thank you for your time.

drink lots of water and i find it helps to take meds after dinner or luch ,best of luck james

dont be scared. there is always a good and a bad side to everything that we put into our bodies. look at other blogs and forums for the positive.; this one is more focused on the negative. im on day 2 of taking harvoni and im having some diarrhea, but the reality is .. this drug is fighting a major viral infection in my blood, it has to push it out of our bodies in some way shape or form. be patient and pray have faith and try to trust the process. thats what i am doing

Get some food grade diatomaceous earth. Google it, saved me and still does, i do a tbsp a day in water at least for the gastro horrors of harvoni.

looking for any kind of interaction or symptoms (side effects) when taking Suboxone with Harvoni (for the 3 month cure period of hep-c). Replies would be well appreciated.

I have had hep c 20 years, I am 63 ,during the last 5 years is when physical problems began,I am on my 4th day of Harvoni,high blood pressure is the only problem,really to be free of the contagious aspect of this disease will be a God send!

Sherri, excellent post. I think if we had a proper database of patient profiles, age, prior treatment, concurrent meds, co-morbid conditions, it might be possible to tell in advance who was a poor candidate for Harvoni, more likely than average to get some nasty side effect.

AJ, I thought I was doing ok with the common side effects of Harvoni. At 8 weeks no virus was detected in my blood. They convinced me to do another 4 weeks to help so no relapse. Those weeks did severe damage to my body. I now have Leukemia and my joints have crystals in the fluid they want to biopsy. I am weak with a lot of joint and muscle pain still 6 months after treatment. I am 62 and afraid this medication has changed my life forever. Stop after they cannot detect the virus.

Because its killing you! For the virus that is in you, drink a lot of water, just pray that you safe not one of the ones that kills you the one that this drug effects, it has helped many people, may god be with you.

I'VE BEEN TAKING HARVONI FOR 2MONTHS NOW. MORE BLOODWORK LOOKS GOOD! HOWEVER DEVELOPED LEG PAIN YESTERDAY I WALKED 1 MILE PAIN SUBSIDED. STAY ACTIVE AND TAKE MULTIMINERAL VITAMINS WITH CHROMIUM ZINC COPPER AND MOLYBIDIDUM! PROBABLY SPELLED THAT MINERAL WRONG! TAKE THE VITAMINS WITH THE HARVONI AND STAY ACTIVE YOU'LL LIVE THROUGH IT WITH NO HEPC IN THE END!

I am new to this discussion. I don't know when the last time was you posted. I likely contracted hepatitis C in 1987. In a span of three months I administered coke intravenously twice and due to an injury had three blood transfusions. I also took IV drugs once in 1981. Therefore there are six times I could have contracted this.

I give you my background only as a qualification of how it can be contracted. When I had insurance all they wanted to do was evaluate me. I had one doctor take down the information that I gave above and write 'IV drug user' in big letters across his diagnostic page. I pointed out he was a lousy scientist if he was not allowing for the possibility of contracting it from the blood transfusions. It wasn't until 1990 or 91 that the blood supply was evaluated for hepatitis C contamination.

In the end none of this matters. Maybe I was a fool to believe that hepatitis C was going to manifest as cancer one day and make my life very unpleasant. Maybe I was also fooled to believe that Harvoni is the miracle drug. I don't have a lot of faith in physicians, politicians or 99.9% of all lawyers.

Regardless, I am in week 10 of taking Harvoni. I have some of the side effects mentioned. I like what the guy with the HIV wrote. I work on focusing on the positive. Doing what I can to make my life better.

KKH - I realize this is a long way to tell you that with a little research on your part online, coupled with a little bit of blind trust, you can find generic Harvoni inexpensively.

While it's important to stay hydrated while on Harvoni, please know that one can drink too much water. I learned about the importance of drinking water when I was on interferon and really never stopped hydrating on a regular basis after the treatment. My mother, however, drank too much liquid and suffered a seizure because too much water can affect the electrolytes in your body. Perhaps you can do some research to learn the maximum amount of water one should drink in order to stay well.
