Hallucinations And Stopping The Drug
UpdatedI'm 30 yrs old and have been on this drug for about a month and a half. At first, I had very few side effects with this drug not half as bad as I was expecting.I did experience a few times waking and having weird stars and colors when I would close my eyes again but that went away after a few days.
However, now since I've been on the 40 mgs for about three weeks now? And I've been having a lot of really weird things happen to me. I've had increasingly vivid and frightening dreams. i feel increasingly agitated and like things are not real.I am often woken from a very deep sleep by the sound of someone knocking at my door loudly. I have had increasingly weird visual occurrences as well. Twice I've seen blue stains on things that weren't there. Today I looked at myself in the mirror and saw a blue stain on my face. When I went to wipe it off it wasn't there. The worst was Thursday, I was sitting at my desk at work and I have a star wallpaper and it started moving, like the stars twinkled and they moved and melted around. When I looked at other things they also seemed to move and melt. This lasted a good ten minutes. By the time I got out of work it was too late to call my doctor.
Well I called my doctor the next morning(Friday yesterday) and talked to the nurse. She told me she'd have the doctor call me back and I ended up calling them back to make sure I'd catch them before the end of the day. My doctors advice was to stop taking it. And callback Monday. Somehow I feel like that is horrible advice and have been worrying about it ever since, My questions are as follows 1)has anyone else had specific hallucinating experiences besides sleep paralysis? and 2) I'm not a doctor but pretty much everything I've ever read and for every other antidepressant I've ever taken -stopping a medication like this is a big no no. I know I've only been on it not even two months but couldn't that make for bigger problems? I feel like my doctor kind of blew me off because it was end of day Friday, Anyone have any stories or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Well, you haven't been on it for that long and, in reality, if you are experiencing such severe effects from it, virtually any doctor it going to tell you to stop taking it.
I understand your concerns and they are valid, but the abrupt withdrawal problems usually only occur after long-term use of a medication.

If you'd have been on it longer, then it might have even been necessary to have you check into a hospital, so it could be stopped and you could be monitored for a few days after.
Did you continue taking it?
