I have been on dilaudid since March due to severe back pain and surgery. I am slowly getting off but noticed that my hair is thinning very rapidly on top. Anyone else have this proble,?

Have you talked to your doctor?

Something you may want to discuss with him is adding a Biotin supplement. It has been shown to help some people by stopping the hairloss and helping it regrow.

I was looking up Dilaudid and hair loss, because that is the only thing that has changed in my meds.
I broke my back, and have been on it for 21/2 weeks. Just stopped 2 days ago and sweitched to hydrocodone. My hair is coming out more than a shedding big dog. Was wondering how long this may last id dilaudid is really the causw ?

Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, which is a potent narcotic analgesic.

Have you consulted your doctor?

Hair loss is not a known side effect of this medication, but there are several other people that reported experiencing it, while taking it and there is really no way to say how any given medication will affect any one individual.

However, if it is being caused by the medication, then in theory, it should improve, as you continue to lessen your use of it and discontinue the medication.
