Hair Loss From Taking Tramadol Hair Coming Out In Chunks

Hi I have been taking Tramadol for about 2 years now 100mg twice a day and I've just figured it out today that this is the cause of my hair loss I've always had thick hair and it has been coming out after washing my hair after brushing my hair or even running my fingers through my hair, mostly not much of my hair is left at the front wear I have a fringe and on the top of my head also the rest is so thin it's not funny. I'm freckling out big time. I told my doctor the other day I was worried cause I'm loosing too much hair, he said cause I'm on hormone replacement I won't lose it all. But he forgot to mention that it has been known to loose hair from taking Tramadol. Well I truely know what won't be doing anymore and that is taking Tramadol. I'm not sure if my hair will grow back but I will be so disappointed if it doesn't. These drug companies have a lot to answer for in my opinion and our doctors should also let us know that there could possibly a big side affect in some people of hair lose.

The FDA lists that Tramadol can cause 'hair disorder', which basically encompasses any adverse effect on your hair. Other typical side effects are listed as possibly including heartburn, constipation, dry mouth, somnolence and headache.

However, since this is an opioid, it can be habit forming, so you may have to be careful stopping it and do it gradually, rather than all at once to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
