Hc10mg/1ml (high Dose)???

I have been suffering from Migraines since 2005. The past year has been very difficult as my headaches have increased 10 fold. I have had many health problems over my years and had a Kidney Transplant back in 2007 so I am limited to what I can take for the headaches. I use to take Toradol and it worked great.

I have been taking Hyrdro Morphone 10mg/1ml at .6 of a ml a day for the headaches. I find that over the months it just does not work as well and my doctor says I am at a way high of a dose and she does not want to increase it.

I want to know what is a normal dose for a regular user for major pain and if my dose is high/normal/low.

I constantly have a headache and it just increases as the day goes on. I vomit, can't open my eyes and makes work hell. The Hyrdo Morhpone when taken works for 6-12 hours and then they start to come back.

Very hard living like this.

From what I could gather, 10mg/1ml appears to be the highest dose of this particular medication. The American Pain Society recommends an initial oral dose of 4 to 8 mg for severe pain in adults, so that may be why your doctor doesn't want to increase it.

If you still plan on taking Toradol (Ketorolac), I found that there aren't any drug interactions between this and Hydromorphone; deeming them safe to take together for additional pain relief.

If the side effects are just too bothersome or severe, I would even consider changing medications. Perhaps going the natural route with less side effects...
