Gralise (gabapentin) Reviews

I tapered up to 1800 mg on a sample pack and my Dr. didn't listen & called in Gabapentin. I tried that off & on for a few years post chemo. (Peripheral Neuropathy).

I then went cold turkey to about 2-3 '300' mg pills for a couple of days, felt that swirly headed silly almost tipsy feeling & decided to just stop the drug.

It has never helped my PN. And an online msg. board has many posts about Gralise being a big joke. Maybe it is???

I'm having some pain relief from Cymbalta, but probably only 75% back pain relief. I still have 25% back/shoulder pain. Such is life. Everyone lives with pain. But I do have chronic pain from PN.

And emotional pain. PTSD from past cancer, etc.

Gralise is Gabapentin, it's just a name brand for it.

Like any other medication, there are people that get great results with it, some are so-so and yet others find it does nothing.

It is an anticonvulsant that has been found to help with certain types of nerve pain due to the way it acts on brain chemicals.

If it didn't help you in the past, it is doubtful that it will now.

What dose of the Cymbalta do you currently take?

Yes, Gralise is XR of Gabapentin. I did find it interesting though that that straight Gabapentin made me feel more loopy. So anyone that is going to try out this med, I do recommend the Gralise. But it's very expensive.

My Dr. mentioned that Cymbalta & Lyrica's patent? expires this year, so they should both have a generic here soon. But don't quote me on this.

I've been taking 60mg. of Cymbalta for 2 mos.+ Definitely long enough to know if it works. I am struggling w/ worsening fatigue & feeling 'blah' all the time.

It could have something to do w/ no longer taking Wellbutrin. Glad I finally kicked that habit!!! There's something not right w/ that med. I've said before its like purified caffeine. But the frontal lobes weird feeling/headachey that did mostly go away & then a blurry vision/stare??? (Deer in headlights?) Which my family made fun of me for.... No thanks. I am liking my much calmer nerves. I also had a hard time siting still for long on Wellbutrin. Very little reading or tv watching. And I've read before that Wellbutrin can make anyone innocent look like the guilty party. Even sweating.

Thankfully, I've only had 2 nighttime sweat attacks on Cymbalta. I take it every night, w/ a light snack. I am so sick & tired of the nonsense dreams too.

Gralise and gapapetin are not the same. They can not be substituted for each other. You will go through withdrawal they are not interchangeable. Read the Gralise website it's the first thing it says. And not worth changing.
