Given Ritrodine At 26 Through 34 Weeks
UpdatedI was given Ritodrine intravenously from 26 through 31 week’s then orally through 34 weeks. I gave birth at 39.5 weeks. My son who is 24 years old now has gastrointestinal issues IBS, Gastritis, Gerd, and possible Leaky Gut. He suffers from anxiety and intermittent depression. Kidney stones too, at 24 yrs old he’s already had 5 stone (2 of which have required hospitalization). Who else’s child has had similar issues? Please connect. Thank you.

All 4 of my children have the same problem and with the oldest son I was on the drug the earliest and longest, and he has anger issues and thinks things that are not true. We don’t even talk because he literally has made up a scenario in his head that never happened. When I found this site and read all the stories of other parents having the same issues with their kids it gave me back my sanity.
Hello AAA,
Thank you for sharing your story, that's honestly terrible to hear about your son. I was looking up the side effects of ritodrine and though I was unable to find anything regarding the long term effects it has on children I did find a very concerning case study that compares ritodrine to nifedipine. This case study shows that nearly all of the women who took ritodrine experienced strong side affects and close to 15% of the women who took it suffered from such severe conditions that they were not able to finish the medicine. It is also worth noting that another 10% of the women failed in arresting preterm labor. I linked the case study below.

I sincerely hope that your son finds a way to treat his conditions and is able to avoid passing another stone in his life. It's sounds terrible enough to pass one in a life time.

Hello and thank you Kevin. I was able to tolerate the medication however, I do remember one scary episode where my son’s and my heartbeat dropped dangerously low... I felt myself drifting away. I thank God my son wasn’t born at 26 weeks. I did go full term at 39.5 weeks. With all the medical issues hes endured he’s very driven and perseveres... he’s finishing up graduate school in accounting.
Thanks again for the article. Much appreciated.

In the article it does mention that many women and the babies they were carrying experienced that same issue. I'm glad that you made it through safe!
Re: Freedom (# 1)
Hello. I just read your post. So you were on ritrodine for all 4 of your pregnancies?
Just curious what symptoms each of your children have?
My son is very short tempered too.
Thanks.
You’ll find more info on this drug if you search for Yutopar aka Ritodrine. Many mothers have posted symptoms that their adult children have suffered from since puberty. I took this drug for preterm labor and it has destroyed my son’s life.
