Getting Off Of Cymbalta
UpdatedI need to get off of cymbalta because I no longer have an ability to feel life. I no longer feel like I have what it takes to grow as a person and continue building myself. I feel stumped and I feel like my body shakes and aches because I am so frail. My life on Cymbalta is pure laziness and sleepiness. The problem is over-sleeping and not feeling active enough or energized enough to get out of bed. The active and energized person who had an ability to feel things and follow his drive has been completely tarnished by an over-use of this horrible daily drug. My brain has been zapped and "blocked" I guess you could say because this is a dopamine uptake inhibitor. I feel like there is a cloud in my head, almost like a little visor, or massive shield of blankness and loss of ability. My only escape is marijuana because without it I would be bed-ridden on my phone, in a book, or sleeping/trying to sleep. I feel as if these doctors admitted me to their hospital and prescribed me drugs, and then NEVER followed up ever and just left me on this drug with no time-base, no schedule to get off or even taper, not even advice or warning that I would experience a terrible withdraw from this substance. I blame the hospital who prescribed the medication. I have now been on this drug for 8 months and I am extremely excited to finally get off, it's like being released from a prison in my mind and going back to real emotions and passion and life. I feel if I stay on this "medication" I will only become more depressed and trapped and I need a way out.

It could be that it is just not the right medication for you, it has been known to cause similar issues in some people that take it, according to FDA studies, as well as mood swings, and weight changes.
The best way to get off of it is via a very slow taper, to minimize the withdrawal effects, which may include rebound depression, pain, and irritability.
At 8 months in, I think it is most likely safe to say it isn't right for you. Are you on any other medications?
