So I live about 20 miles outside st. louis, missouri and seen a new pain management dr. He prescribed me the same thing my intern dr. gave me which was 50mcg fentanyl every 48 hours. He also prescribed me percocet 10/325 which doesn't agree with me nor anything in that class of meds, and I remember darvocet, which back in the early 90's 3 dr's were giving them to me n I was young n dumb then and it was the first pain pill I ever took. I was getting 180 a month u know that n between drinking at 29 I almost ended up dying from liver failure. The dr's could not believe that I walked in the er on my own much less that I was still alive as my liver stopped working. My enzymes we're like 6200. I was like is that high? Well put this way I don't know how many dr's came and interviewed me about wtf I was doing. I was just drinking beer and never drank any hard stuff. Do you know it pretty much was all the darvocet I was taking n then not too much longer after that I heard it was damaging a lot of people's livers... I think they took it off the market. Omg I'm sorry I got way off the subject but basically my dr. told me all the class of meds u are talking about have tylenol in them, so back to the subject... The last time it was filled was on dec. 6, the fentanyl patches that is, but my pain over the last few months went from a 4 or 5 to a 8 or 9 n anyhow my intern dr told me to double up on my patches until I get u to a pain dr. n I said now what you are telling me is that u want me to put 2 50mg patches on every 48hrs? He said yes, so now I go to walgreens n what you think they said? It's too early.

I told them my insurance is covering it cause I call them, and it's a new dr given these to me n walgreens told me that it's too early 4 them to give to me, I go u can't override the dr and the insurance company n they told me ooo. Yes we can it's our policy. I go, u guys know I been coming here 4 almost 20yrs u know what I been threw n u are going to be like this to me well u know it's the drug users well I'm a chronic pain patient, even u guys know how lucky I am to be alive and u know why I am cause I refuse to give up I believe that you can beat almost every thing that your higher power puts in front of u, then it's your decision to either fight threw it or lye down n dye I been threw 37 operations I flat line 3 different times n I feel 30 feet made the tv news lol I fought off mrsa so many times in fact I need both my hips need work on but I get infections if u look at me the wrong way no dr want to touch me I go see a new orthopedic dr today cause l found out the pain is. Cause I have a cracked trochanteric, which is the top of my leg bone that your ass muscle are attached to it, very bad to have n that cause I have lysis in my left hip area, my dr. Told me that I had a better chance of winning the lottery then getting this wtf...I'm sooooo sorry I have been dealing with s*** like this since 1992, I own my own bread route delivered saralee n I stop working 3yrs ago only cause my body just couldn't do it anymore drove my dr's nuts but when 3 different dr's said either u keep working n u b wheelchair I have 3 younger kids well 16 ,14 - both girls and 9yr boy, so I had to sign up for disability and omg the s*** they put u threw my social security lady told me that u should accept to be turned down 1 or 2 times n get a lawyer if you want, but I honestly did everything they asked filled out the piles of paper work went to there dr's, my social security rep. calls me a little over a year later n said u are approved n I told her I kinda figured that out when a s*** load of money was deposited in my bank... Then she says, "I have to ask honey where the hell have u been? I'm like what you mean? She said son u could've gotten this 15 yrs ago. We very rarely see cases like your come threw here. I just said I just wanted to keep working n do my part. After that my life has went to hell. I feel like my whole meaning of life was taken away from me, and how u think my kids feel when their friends ask them what does your dad do 4 a living.

So back on topic - Does walgreens have the right to hold my meds back from me? Even when you have a new dr. and insurance approved and my other dr. told me to double up on them till we found out wtf is going on with you? Because my dr knows when I telling him that I'm in pain I'm not lying. Sorry this is so long... too much coffee lmaoo. Any help is good help. Hugs n kisses...Merry Christmas.

I am very sorry about what you are going through, Rocko!

But yes, they can refuse to refill it early, if your doctor hasn't send them a new prescription, or authorization for a dosage change. I know this information really doesn't help you, I am just explaining the way it currently stands.

Your doctor should contact the pharmacy regarding the dosage change, so they have it on record.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache.

Has there been any change, yet?

Happy holidays!
