Generic Percocet 10/325 By Mallinkrodt Bad Side Effects (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy pharmacy switched to Mallinkrodt generic percocet 10/325. After 3 months of taking them my wrists are stiff; my outer side of hands, pinky & ring fingers have gone totally numb! Also, little to NO pain relief, withdrawal symptoms ie; like the flu, exhaustion, episodic sweating, nausea...as if I’m taking a fake pill! I’ve been a legit CP PATIENT for 20 years; never a problem. Last 2 yrs every generic percocet has very odd side effects. My whole life & persona has drastically changed. Hard to function. What has obviously been added/subtracted, changed in the formulations? Is anyone else experiencing this or am I losing my mind? Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer me some advice &/or facts.

MeJane, Your not crazy!! Ive lost count of how many of these generic percocet (camber, sun pharmacy, kvk, ect.) have made me ill in since January of 2018. The pharmacy employees will not admit it; until they run out the brand you complained about. I believe most of them are harmful to our health; especially the Camber. KVK is horrible too. For 2 years, I was getting Activas percocet from Wallgreens and no problems; my dosage was much lower b/c they worked. I was going to an independent pharmacy for a while and they have Epic 5mg oxycodone (manufactured in the US). Not as good for pain as the Activas but didnt make me sick. Oh, and then Doctors question why all of sudden your dosage is increased. I got tired of going out of my way to the independent pharmacy; so when Wallgreens got Malinkrodt, I decided to try the 5mg oxycodone. Not great but didnt make me sick.
I ended up in the ER a week ago for severe pain. They gave me a script for percocet to try again. I got the 10mg Malinkrodt percocet and have been using half's intermittently for a week. After reading your comment, I am not going to use them anymore; thank you. Fortunately I have some of the plain oxy left and a new script. Im going back to the independent pharmacy; even though not as convenient. I have all your side effects with the exception of the numbness but I havent used that much. Extreme nausea, fatigue, lethargic and serious constipation. There isnt a doubt in my mind that this crap being manufactured in other countries is harmful to our health. Its causing unnecessary evaluations and procedures to try and diagnose what the problem is when the problem is the pills.
Name brand oxydodone and percocet cost a ridiculous fortune. I checked with cost when I was so sick. What I was told twice was that percocet name brand 90 tablets was $1,300. IMO it doesnt matter what your Doctor recommends, insurance rules. Its not enough to be sick with chronic pain and Cancer (in my case), we have to deal with this too. All of this has destroyed the quality of my life and many others. The FDA could care less and we can not even find out what the binders and fillers are in this junk. The FDA is not regulating the manufacturers in other countries. There collecting exorbitant regulatory fees from big pharma but thats not who is manufacturing them.
I hope this isn't too confusing; feel free to ask a question. When I saw your comment this morning, I wanted to write all day but was too nauseated and constipated to deal with it.
If you could find an oxycodone thats descent; just add some tylenol. That way you can control how much tylenol you take. Its such a crap shoot with the oxycodone anymore. When I recently got the kvk, I had to call my Doctor and drive to get a new script. She had to call the insurance company. Major hassle but not all of them are willing to do that. I lucked out with the pcp I have. She actually believes me. Once again; "YOUR NOT CRAZY" and dont let anyone tell you that you are. I wonder if they change generic insulin's on Diabetics? Independent pharmacies have a little more freedom. Large chains get whatever corporate gets cheap and sends them. Its scary time for people with pain.
Regarding the numbness, you should really have that checked out by your doctor to rule out any other possible causes, though it is very rare, those types of symptoms could be the sign of a serious health issue.
Have you spoken to your doctor about trying the name brand Percocet? It is still available, but most insurance companies won't cover it, unless your doctor writes the prescription stating that it is medically necessary. This would also help you both determine if the problem stems from the generics, or if Percocet itself is just no longer working for you.
Are you on any other medications?
My pharmacist told me that generics can have up to 10% difference from brand name. Usually it’s a difference in binders or fillers but I swear that the brand name Tylenol 4 with codeine was much better at controlling pain than the generic. I would definitely consult your doc to make sure that’s not a symptom of something else but for you to be feeling withdrawal, that’s not right. I know I can ask my pharmacist to give me the brand name meds I want but I have to pay a bit more. It’s worth it to me.
