Generic Version Hydrocodone-chlorpheniram Susp

I have used Tussionex Pennkineticsusp for years and never had any problems. Recently I got the generic version, took it once. I felt dizzy and nauseated and light headed all day. Will now go back to the regular version. I always thought that generic should be the same, but it is not. Taste different too.

The taste is really irrelevant, that just depends on what flavoring agents the manufacturer uses and it has no bearing on the efficacy of the medication.

However, no generics don't have to be 100% exactly the same as the name brands. Under the laws of the U.S. FDA, they are allowed to differ, in the active ingredients, by as much as plus or minus 20%.

Since the dizziness, nausea and light headed feeling can be normal side effects of the Hydrocodone in this, which is a narcotic, my guess would be that this one contained a slightly higher amount of it, than what you are used to taking.

thank you for that information. I really did not know that it could differ that much as 20%. plus or minus.
Probably the generic was a bit stronger.
