Generic Subutex/buprenorphine - Which Manufacturer Do You Prefer? (Page 5)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Hello All,

I recently just got changed from suboxone to subutex due to a pretty bad allergic reaction to the naloxone in the suboxone. Basically my question for everyone is which generic do you guys prefer? My pharmacist can order any kind for me so at the moment I just got the Roxanne ones 8mg - they are white round tablets. This is my first day using and am already noticing my migraines are starting to subside, not fully, but starting to. So yeah if anyone has any suggestions please let me know all the ups and downs that you guys have been experiencing, thanks!

Good luck to one and all!

There are 7 generics for this medicine they make. They are as follows and in order of quality and efficiency..which Rhodes efficiency is 2x another which is good but if you are unable to find them the following month it may be a tiny bit hard dealing with any other as they are 2x leas potent and effective as the Rhodes / purdue generic: RP b8 2x as effective then others and hard to find for most.

1. Rhodes: mfg by Purdue 2x more potent and effective than even the Roxanne (westward 411s (surprising when I realized)- if u can find and get this brand of generic do so asap best one as demand is super high and supply low (imprint)- RP b8

2. Westward formerly Roxanne- 54 411. They have two formulations the one that is shinny and convexed a bit more and protrudes out more and is more shinny and not as chalky..these would be the old Roxanne ones westward are chalky Roxanne are much better and shinier but they have sifted through all the good ones by now. That's why you see a chalky one and a shiny 54 411 when looking. Lucky if you are able to find the old version that actually says Roxanne one the dispensed bottle get it and be lucky knowing they stopped making these shinny ones and would be worth getting if bottle said Roxanne still not westward (good luck)

3. Sun Pharma- 460 white circle
4. Mylan- M924
5. TEVA- B 799
6 Actavis- (teva owner)- crescent moon 153 Orange color. Least favorite I stay away from everything teva and actavis but preference.

7. Then at last we have the Hi -Tech Generic which is praised by many drug abusers. I have not tied this generic and may want to as I believe hi tech makes great medicines. Maybe one day I will try this generic. Anyways, I heard 50/50 feedback on these, half love them over any other and other half of people don't even think they work. so I'm not sure. If I get a chance to try this generic I will keep everyone posted.

There you have it, all the 7 makers of generic approved buprenorphine hcl 8mg. Again Rhodes is two times stronger than Roxanne-Westward. I will be sticking to Rhodes.

If you have any other question please feel free to ask. This was a 4 month search for me getting Rhodes. It can be hard but you have fam here. God bless the healthy.

You have a right to know what generic you are getting don't let them treat you any different than they would each other. Your closest to rhode island than anyone I've talked to get which is where they are dispensed and wjere Rhodes Pharma is ..you should have no problem finding them just find a small pharmacy that isn't cooperate and be professional with them and knkw your information and they order u some..but they can't not tell you the generic you are going to get or wjat..you choose your generic..its like the drsm..we pay them for help not for them to judge and rule our life so you got to stand up and say hey I pay you and if you arent going to help me..i will go to a Dr that will because iWork hard for my money..the same goes for pharmacy...they like to think they have power and they do they control our meds but they can't keep the generic information from you ..all they can do is be lazy and look and say nonwe don't or can't get that or be nice and do their job and say ya know what let me look into that for you and see what I can do.. and help them do that by knowing the medicine and ndc and be honest and stern..its your life it's your hard earned money..dont put up with crap generics..on any medicine. So many people do and makes me sad they arent getting even half of what they should. You'll find it you are way close to it's supply just need a good pharmacy it seems like.

Re: Tim (# 203) Expand Referenced Message

Yes...they are..it is my first time questioning if a generic is comparable as most are not..it is almost like a tie but I can take a half to feel the effect of a full westward..they take effect very strongly at first but last..they are better than Roxanne yes..but preference certainly kicks in on this generic comparison..both are good..these are smoother yet strong and effective..so are Roxanne, but these are better because they dissolve faster and would be even better if Rhodes had Purdue make them so imo they are better but by like 20 to 40% better than Roxanne maybe even 50%..but I would be ok if one month they couldn't get them. To be honest it took me a lot of work and my pharmacy worried about losing my buisness to get them in but they are all available now. I've talked to Rhodes and the country suppliers McKesson amerisoirceberg acton cardinal etc and they say they are available and if your pharmacy says it is showing as not or out of stock they have to call in. Definitely generic u will need to get either from a mom and pa shop or inside hospital pharmacy or a pharmacy willing to order for you that doesn't treat you like crap. They suppliers say they pharmacy just needs to call them to order em and that's what ended up happening.. i wouldn't go to big chain ones for this generic u need small pharmacy willing to order for your buisness and make it easy for them to find by providing the ndc number 42858-502-03.

It is worth it but I was expecting a little bit more... but I've only been on em for half a day. They're very strong and yes I would pick them over roxanne but if didn't have the option I would be ok with roxanne. However, Rhodes is best and newest. So yes it is better than roxanne.

Re: Goozer (# 201) Expand Referenced Message

We don’t have any Prime Pharmacies in the Tallahassee area. I’ve called all the pharmacies and most will not give me any information over the phone, so it’s difficult to know what pharmacies have what. I’m still going to keep looking though. Let us know what you think of the Rhodes, are they better than the Roxane?

Ok..here is my conclusion on All 7 generics.. I have only tried brand name subutex, roxannes(westward) kind not old shinny Roxanne as westward has made them different and chalky now all real Roxanne are most likely faded out by now and we are dealing with only westward 54 411s which are great to but little different than original Roxanne before westward bought them out.
I have never tried the smaller ones like teva or activas nor the mylan or hi tech. I would like to try hi tech as they make quality meds but most seem to prefer Roxanne over hi tech so I got those and they worked well..easy switch from he and name films to westward 54 411s..and picked them instead of hi tech or mylan or teva. Anyways I have now tried the new RHODES/PURDUE made newest generic with imprints RP b8 and will list my favorites in order..please note I haven't tried teva, activas, mylan, or hi tech. I do jot like any of those company's except hi tech and stay away from mylan and teva which is now allergan owned meaning activas owns teva and activas makes quality meds but they hit strong and end quick if even at all..so here it goes in my preferred order

#1-Rhodes manfct by purdue- RP b 8 imprints
#2- westward(formerly roxanne)- 54 411
#3-hi tech- 8 arrow
#4-mylan - M923 I believe
#5- teva- b799
#6-sun pharma- 460
#7- activas- orange pill with crescent moon

I must say the Rhodes are fantastic. They are about the same size as westward Roxanne but way more shinny and a little chalky like a good soma would be. The imprints and making of the pill are phenomenal and it kicks in very quickly and lasts longer than Roxanne but comes very close..this is one time where I have questioned ever generics being a close call and hard to decide but Rhodes are stronger than Roxanne at least for me..but I like both and would be happy getting either or but if I choose it would always be Rhodes. I have yet to try the hi tech or any small ones except brand name due to all bad reviews I've seen and the fact that allergan owns activas and teva and they make addictive cheap meds that hit hard but end quick and I have stayed away from mylan my whole life on every type of medicine sop yee lol. And on the sun pharma I know sun pharma medicines are expensive so follow the money u hear but I hear people saying they don't like the sun's at all but they are the most expensive of the 7..and I like my medicine to he made in the US where I don't think sun and novartis(sandoz) are anymore. Rhodes is phenomenal and will be everyone's preferred soon..again still need to try the hi tech but is say get Rhodes as purdie makes it for them..purdue invented oxycontin keep in mind and Rhodes just dispenses it so purdie makes the Rhodes ones. If you can't get Rhodes get westward Roxanne as it is a close call Rhodes is stronger by far but Roxanne are also just calm and nice as well..if u can't get wither I would say hi tech or mylan but imo I will he sticking with

-rhodes/Purdue-feedback RP b 8
-roxanne(westward)- 54 411
- and hi tech- 8 arrow
when I decide to try it if

needed..the rest are cheap and junk. The make with cheapest ingredient so they can make most money stick with these top three. Please if you have any questions I know my pharmacology very well and all the generics and which are best and not just for bup but for benz to and all..generic king here lol. Please ask anytime u have a medicine question il be happy to help

Finally after a three-month search I was able to find the brand new Rhodes generic. I just picked them up and I'm trying them now. Prior to the Rhodes generic I was taking the Roxanne West-Ward generics and I'm surprised you can't find them in Florida because that's where they're flooded most of. I'm on the west side and it took 3 months for me to get them. You should be able to find them easy in Florida, just call Prime Pharmacy. Anyways, I will let you know how they compare to the Roxanne and generics here in the next few hours. So far pretty good, however I do need a little bit more time to see if it is better than Roxanne or not. So far after 20 to 30 minutes it has been, but I'll let you know long term.

Re: Sunpharmasucks (# 185) Expand Referenced Message

I live in Weirton WV and it’s kinda close to St. Clairsville. I don’t know if the pharmacies in WV would take someone from Ohio but if you like the Mylan or 54/411 that’s all this pharmacy carries and they’re 4$ a pill. It’s about a 45 minute drive from where you are. New Cumberland WV Pharmacy. Try there if you can’t find anywhere else. I got the Mylan this month but last month was West Ward/Roxanne brand. Hope this helps!

Re: Jenb (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

You are very lucky. I have called everywhere in SLC and still no luck. Maybe I will just call the closest Prime Pharmacy to SLC and see if they will ship them to my closest pharmacy. Idk at this point how else I will find them, the Rhodes 8mg ones.

It seems like is starting to appear in some pharmacies systems but showing as out of stock which is not true as informed by the distributors themselves... I did have one pharmacist tell me if I could get a hold of the supplier and confirm it is available and they call the pharmacy they said then they could, but not one pharmacy in SLC that I am aware can get it. This is horrible. Made a few calls tonight and seems like it's slowly making its way out here but not yet, but Rhodes even informed me it is available & that the pharmacy just needs to reach out to their wholesaler to order it. No luck. Everyone says they cannot get the Rhodes generic, nor order it yet... My search continues.

Everyone should check out the forum linked below. Hopefully some feedback there on the new Rhodes/Purdue made generic RP b8 will be beneficial I think to all who take buprenorphine. This new generic was approved in 2017 which I believe will top the 54 411s or hopefully. I heard they are double the cost of the Rhodes ones, so follow the money I always say. They also look so good compared to the 54 411 ones nowadays. They used to look great when Roxanne made them and now they seem flat and chalky. Anyways, check this out everyone and any feedback would be great!

Re: Danny (# 191) Expand Referenced Message

Have you tried the 7th new generic by Rhodes and Purdue? I am enjoying the Roxanne version who's now westward but know the Rhodes will be better. I really hope I can try this new generic this next month. I looked everywhere for the rp b8 ones & not one pharmacy in slc could find them for me. I still have a month of westward ones left which is great but I know Purdue makes quality and the new generic is so much better looking than westward which I enjoy. Take a look at my other post here regarding Rhodes buprenorphine hcl 8mg vs Roxanne. It is the only other post atm about this new generic so please respond to it if you have tried it. Any feedback would be great. I am assured they are the best out of all 7 generics:

- Rhodes- RP b 8
- Roxanne (now westward)- 54 411
- Mylan- believe m924
- Teva- b 799
- Activas- half moon 153
- Sun-460 white
- Hi tech- 8 ^(arrow sign)

Re: Goozer (# 190) Expand Referenced Message

Hey there! I decided to look up small pharmacies in Jacksonville, Fl. I stumbled upon Prime Pharmacy and took my rx there vs CVS, WALGREENS, WAL-MART, etc....and hit the jackpot my 1st try. I've now been with them for 3 months. Prime Pharmacy uses Rhodes Pharmacy for both my bup and clonazepam. I swear it is a ENORMOUS difference in quality. The Bup comes supplied directly from Rhodes pharmacy. The only ingredient listed is 8.64 mg buprenorhine, which is equivalent to 8 mg bup. I recieve 45 8mg tabs per month. With my insurance I only pay 5$...However, in Jan my insurance required a new preauth from my Dr., so I paid out of pocket. That was only $101.21 for the 45 tabs. They work like magic! They also melt smoothly, without leaving all the little unabsorbed crumbs in my mouth. I literally had been going through w/d's, but 25 minutes into taking my 1st one, I had that same feeling that I got when I first began taking them. Prime Pharmacy is amazing at filling them 2 days early each month also. I recently noticed that Prime Pharmacy is either a sister company to another pharmacy or uses a different name, as I've noticed both names on the building on my last visit. I will get the other name and ALL their info, such as other locations, phone #'s etc...and send it to you in the morning. For now, search for Prime Pharmacy in your area. I will certainly help you locate a pharmacy that uses Rhodes manufacturer. THE BEST!

The Roxanne brand that you thought they gave you is actually West-Ward Pharmaceuticals. it is no longer Roxanne brand. They only have two ingredients anhydrous and buprenorphine. The others have too many fillers and don't work. I have been on them for years. The best brand is the West-Ward Pharmaceuticals brand. The imprint is 54 411 round white. Hand down those are the best

Re: Jenb (# 187) Expand Referenced Message

Purdue and Rhodes just got approved for this generic in October 2017. It is the newest generic and the 7th one made. Purdue makes them and Rhodes dispenses them so I can only assume they are quality medicene..very lucly you got them I literally have called every pharmacy in slc looking for them for this month's fill and for the life of me could not find that generic to order. You got lucky and hooe they are not to expensive as I was informed they were double the amount of all other generics.

Re: Sunpharmasucks (# 185) Expand Referenced Message

I've only been on bup since July. I was given the one's w/ the 8 and arrow, then CVS switched to M 924's and they've been an awful for 3 months. I went to a "mom and pop" pharmacy and recieved the RP on one side and b8 on the other. They're white round pills made by Rhodes Pharmacy and are working VERY WELL! Has ANYONE heard of these?? I'm hoping they will continue carrying this manufacturer.
