Generic Subutex/buprenorphine - Which Manufacturer Do You Prefer? (Page 13)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Hello All,

I recently just got changed from suboxone to subutex due to a pretty bad allergic reaction to the naloxone in the suboxone. Basically my question for everyone is which generic do you guys prefer? My pharmacist can order any kind for me so at the moment I just got the Roxanne ones 8mg - they are white round tablets. This is my first day using and am already noticing my migraines are starting to subside, not fully, but starting to. So yeah if anyone has any suggestions please let me know all the ups and downs that you guys have been experiencing, thanks!

Good luck to one and all!

D

Just when I was starting to think that the "naloxone is the blocker" misinformation was finally squashed, someone comes along and posts it again. Search THIS SITE even and you will find several posts that put that misinformation to sleep. Some people who are sensitive to Naloxone will have issues with it, but only because it affects other systems, nothing to do with the opioid receptors. They only way I can feel anything right away on straight bupe or Suboxone is if I take ungodly amounts of ops, 30mgs+ oxycodone or 10mgs+ or opana, 16mgs+ of dilaudid. Amounts that would damn near kill anyone without a tolerance. The amounts and waiting times make no difference if its Suboxone or Subutex. Because in both cases the bupe fills all the receptor, blocking everything else. Including and especially the naloxone.

"I got da info" :you are posting the same misinformation that has been throwing everybody off and fking them up for years. BUPRENORPHINE blocks the effects of ALL opiate agonists (percs vics, etc) and antagonists (naloxone). Nothing can stand a chance. The naloxone in suboxone does nothing because it cant compete with the bupe. The manufacturer put it in as a scare tactic because it was supposed to discourage I.V abuse, however it was discovered that its just cant beat the bupe. Maybe, MAYBE, if one were to I.V 5-8mg tablets of suboxone, (40mgs bupe, 10mgs naloxone) it may possible be enough to start putting up a fight, but even then is doubtful. I have been on straight bupe for many many moons and if I want to feel any opes full strength, Id have to go 7-10 days without taking my BUPE ONLY subutex pills. What you stated is exactly what the manufacturer of Suboxone wanted everyone to belief, because the naloxone andprocess of combining the two drugs was quite expensive making generic competition more expensive and less appealing to generic companies trying to make a certain amount of profit while keeping their prices low. But it has been proven over the years that the naloxone does nothing because bupe outcompetes everything that tries to touch the Mu opioid receptors. Even naloxne. But every now and then, someone comes along who doesnt bother to do a little research to confirm what they think they know before posting incorrect information. Im sure SEVERAL people will back me up soon.

I hate to tell you that you're wrong because it seems like you have been taking pain medication following a dose of Buprenorphine but you are most definitely wrong. The no locks but you are most definitely wrong. The Naloxone that is the only difference Between Suboxone and subutex. You need to do your research and you will find that the blocker lies only in the buprenorphine. And please don't try to argue me because I have taken Subutex more times than I can count and two hours later took pain meds without feeling a single thing. You may think you're feeling the effects of pain medicine, but all you are feeling is minimal effects of the pain medicine mixed with the buprenorphine. Whether it is Suboxone or Subutex, no matter what the main ingredient buprenorphine will attach itself to your opiate receptors. The medicine will sweep these receptors for the remainder of your half life. The last time I relapsed, I was on Subutex for eight months. I could not feel the effects of oxycodone for the first three days. Trust me brother your wasting anything your doing immediately following subs. On top of that, every single time I have overdosed I have asked these questions to the doctors because of the continuous debate and every time I have received the same answer. It is bupe that blocks the effects of other opiates, all naloxone does is act as a deterrent from people trying to inj. or it can be prescribed by itself called Naltrexone and what that does is eliminate cravings.

Now I am not saying that using opiates after any of these medicines will make you sick. You just don't feel it's effects. But if you take Subs to soon after the use of another opiate, that can make you sick. A lot of people confuse that as well.

Ive been debating the same thing ,which one was better... This has helped me to see im not crazy. I def need more of the Mylans. I perfer the Roxanne but for the Roxanne Brand Walmart wants 247.00 and for Mylan Kmart wants 155.00 BIG DIFFERENCE!! Tough decision

Ur wrong my dude, you can take a full 8 mg subutex and feel the effects of pain medication 2 hours later. There is no blocker in subutex this is why 90% of ppl try and get those. Now suboxone is a different story.. This is from my experience from years and years. Good luck and I personally feel the subutex do work better.. When I take suboxone I can't sleep for nothing and it makes my stomach kill me..

I just filled my script last night with 300 2mg roxannes. My pharmacist has agreed to keep 300 in stock now at all times so I have no troubles. The mylans have poor quality control and consistency but in general they work. I just cant afford to take a gamble if ill get a bunk dose. I have a heavy duty job and am father of three.

Just like to urge you if your as unhappy as I am in regard to Mylan pharmaceutical's generic subutex to call them and file a complaint at: 1-800-796-9526. Unless we as consumers speak up we will go unheard and unhappy. Good luck. Im getting the roxane brand and my pharmacy is in compliance with me. Happy days. God bless.

I referred to those as surfboards. Didnt care for them at all. Also i believe ive spoken too soon in regard to Mylan vs Roxane. I must AGREE! yes the Roxane last longer or maybe the bioability is better. I have only been on the mylan a short time. My pharmacy is great. I was just honest and explained my concerns. Thank God id only gotten 10 tablets as my refill is due and running short. So my vote is recanted. Roxane hands down. Ive been craving more since i got them filled really just without noticing. I see now. Thanks for the feedback. Oh btw. Hi techs are worthless. I was able to return my refill. Really bad. God bless

Mylan was ok, they were just inconsistent. Some were way stronger and others were way weaker. Regardless, I found myself wanting more constantly. Never had that problem with any other brands except maybe hi tech a little. Ill stick to the Roxanne because its the best most consistent brand for me. Dont worry about Roxanne being discontinued. My pharmacist says itll never happen. Hi tech is the one being discontinued because of hundreds of complaints and nobody wants them.I still wanna try the orange ovals, however.

Hey Roxanne56 are you really finding the Mylan brand to be superior to the Roxanne Brand? I have been on Roxanne Long term as well so I definitely fear the day I cant fill Roxanne Labs anymore... But i keep hearing from more and more people that the Mylan brand seems to be doing pretty good. I know one thing, the month I got stuck with the new orange Actavis Brand was TRAGIC. NO ENERGY, dragged myself to and from everywhere for 30 days. This cannot happen again.... I know everyone is different but as of right now Its either Roxanne for me or the Small Whites (HI-TECH) worse comes to worse.

I guess it will be worth seeing whats up with Mylan sooner than later...

I agree my friend. Mylan overides the Roxane by far. Funny havung a pharmaceutical company that produces my docs. Anyway yes jusr switched over. More absorption. Last longer. All generics must have 85% to pass fda standers. These may have more bupe but better absorption. Best brand!

Mylan now produces generic subutex. Ive been on Roxane brand 13yrs basically. Soon as it became generic. 24mgs.. Now im switched to Mylan. I have no problem with them. In fact they seem better as far as absorption. God bless

Yeah ive got roxanne right now. 300 2mgs a month. I love these little f*****s but I kinda wanna try the Actavis 2mgs. When i was on generic suboxone, my favorite was the actavis 2mgs that were white with a moon on them. Im hoping the actavis subutex will be superior as well.

No they are speaking about Subutex, a newer brand. They are orange, have a crescent moon on one side and 153 on the other. This medicine DOES NOT contain Naloxone in it , and it is marketed as
. just 8mg of bupe by Brand Name ACTAVIS
They happen to be orange so most people's first assumption is that they are Suboxone but they could not be more wrong.

Anyways. It's not my favorite brand. My favorite is Roxane Labs, Walmart in Florida still has these for me every month.

I've been on subutex for years and I've had Roxanne , hi tech, mylon and now it's extremely hard to find the good brands which are in my opinion Roxane and mylon . But I just got a new brand not sure the laboratory. But there orange 153 and a moon on them , so we will see....

Melissa -The Roxanne has the 54/411 you are correct on that. The Mylan is a white pill that has nothing on one side and the other says M 924. I have tried both and the 54/411 seem to be a little softer than the M 924 by Mylan. Taste doesnt have much of a difference. And the half moons that is a suboxone pill form not subutex which means the half moon means it has naloxone in it which doesnt really make a difference unless someone is trying to abuse the pill. The subutex means its just bupe in it.

What exactly do the mylan brand subutex look like? We take the big white round 54/411 and I believe its the roxanne brand. I do like the small round white ones with 8/arrow imprint and I've also taken the new orange oblong half-moon ones and I like them as well but they have a lot of fillers vs the small round white ones. In confused on all the brands though...

Is anybody sure roxanne has been discontinued? My pharmacist can get them and now will be keeping them in stock for mm. The only 2 brands he can get are Roxanne and Mylan. So maybe hi tech is the one being discontinued.
