Generic Subutex/buprenorphine. Ranking From Best To Worst. (Page 2) (Top voted first)

This is for people who actually take Subutex for the intended purpose for which it is used. So if you actually take the medication sublingually, this thread will help you. I have been taking buprenorphine for three and a half years now. This is what I have found: (8mg)

Best: Actavis 153/half moon (orange)
Middle: Roxanne 54/411 (white)
Worst: Hi-Tech 8/arrow

Again, this is for people who take medication as prescribed. You can actually break the medication in half and put it and the front of your lip like dip & chewing tobacco. It will take longer for it to dissolve like this but you will get much much more of the bupe.

Can you please help me. I've been on subs over 12yrs. Roxane was always the best to me. We know they are phased out and bought out replaced with Wentworth white 460 I think or 490 8mg. I take 24mg a day . I be had activis sp? I don't like they don't last. At first the new Roxane was ok I had still some left in my system from the old. Now I'm really tripping I'm getting almost breakthrough. W/D.i contacted the company and the chemist said no difference and gave me the formula. There is a difference. It's like some are fake or something We all know hitech is junk. What's going on. I hate the mylan too. What am I left with?? I'm having serious cravings. Should I go bk to suboxone strip's? At least the bupe is original or is it?? Any help greatly appreciated

There will be no more Roxane Labs 54411 because it was bought out by Westward Labs (subsidiary hi-tek) and while the new manufactures have the same buprenorphine (the active ingredient), there are different fillers, binders, dyes, cellulose, etc etc etc (the non drug or non active ingredients). The amount of the NON active ingredients (the binders, fillers, cellulose, etc) are so minuscule that it is extremely rare to have an effect other than what is called a placebo effect which is your mind making you 'feel' that they are 'not working' . I am not doubting any of you, I am just trying to give a bit of information and fact about why the Roxane brand is no longer available, etc. Hope this helps

Yes, I have had a problem with changing manufacturers. I'm new to this treatment but, have a brother that's been on them for years. It has been proven thru his blood work that the orange/oval, leaves a much lower level of the medicine than the white round ones by Westward. I received the Westward for my first week and I instantly got my life back, this was a miracle for my life. The second week and for the rest of the month, I am stuck with the orange tablets and before my brother informed me the difference in the med, I thought I made a huge mistake going this route. I am currently counting the days till I can get a new script and hopefully get the same I first received from Westward. I have found the orange ones provide a better pain relief if I break them in half, put both halves under my tongue, bend my head forward a little (while playing a game on my phone) and let it sit completely still. I'm able to make it last almost an hour and it does help enough. Good luck to all. For me, I'm sticking with West Ward manufacturer for 8 mg tabs of subutex.

Wow you assume a lot for not even knowing me. Just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn't mean you should name call them. Grow up and get a life. Everyone has personal preferences no matter what it is food, movies, brands ect...

Hey Kai! I know your message wasn’t directed to me but I thought I might offer a suggestion. There is a site I found that helps you find a provider. I read a little info on it & found out that a person can actually make a request to a provider for them to become certified in prescribing Subutex/Suboxone (literally an 8 hour online certification process) though not sure how many drs would be willing to do that. Nurses as well as PA’s are also able to get certified. This site not only has a dr locator link but a link to a matching system where drs contact you (you can submit your info anonymously) once they have available openings. You can read further info about it if you choose to but that’s the specifics. Even though I am a recovering addict, I understand your frustration with having chronic pain & the difficulties with finding a dr who will prescribe you with Subutex/Suboxone for that when it is most commonly prescribed for addiction. My thinking is because it is a partial-agonist unlike regular opiates that are full agonists, many drs might presume that for patients with chronic pain, these drugs can only relieve your pain to a certain cutoff level as they block pain receptors but the plus side is that they are less likely to cause a person to become addicted upon taking them. However, if it has worked for you (& I’m sure many others since it use to be commonly prescribed for pain) I don’t see the problem. Methadone has similarities as far as being used primarily in treating addiction & having been originally manufactured for pain management. I went to a clinic for several years (about 5 or so years ago) & tons of ppl went there specifically for pain management. So I don’t see how that isn’t a problem but providing Subutex/Suboxone for pain is? Have you looked into the other forms of Subs like Butrans which is solely for the treatment of around-the-clock pain & comes in a patch form?

*FYI* I believe you said you have been taking Klonopin for a long time for a condition you have. I, as well take it & have on/off for years but if you’re not aware, any benzodiazepine is warned not to be taken in combination with Buprenorphine because of the lethal interaction it can cause. Because of that, my assumption is that many drs will not prescribe Buprenorphine if a patient tells them they take a Benzodiazepine. So having said all that, check out the site that I mentioned above [naabt.org] & it will give you the links to the other major sites for locating a dr, getting matched to one, & even clinical trials. Lastly, I read about how there are promotional Co-pay cards for Suboxone & for Zubsolv (another form of Buprenorphine) where you can save $50 & $75 a month, respectively. Oh!! On the link to the site I gave you, at the bottom of page there’s a paragraph that states any dr can prescribe a 3 days dose of whichever form of Buprenorphine for an emergency basis whether they have a license or not. Thought that was interesting to know. More resources are listed as well but I really think it’s worth you checking out. I hope the info helps & you are able to find a resolution. The Butrans patch is INCREDIBLE! I broke my hips and have some nerve damage in my back from back in my military days and have been on the Butrans patch for several years. I am also a recovering addict and have used the Butrans patch with absolutely no problem. It has done amazing things for my pain without making me feel buzzed or faded. I am totally alert and almost entirely pain free due to this patch. I have the 20MCG (Microgram) which is the highest MCG you can get. I also take Buprenorphine sublingually to help with the bad days. Most doctors will not prescribe both but my doc knows me well and we have found what really works for me. When you get a prescription, you are given a package with 4 patches, each of which will last you seven days. Do be careful of the adhesive though, as it can cause a pretty awful skin reaction even if you're used to it. In the past several years, I have only had a bad reaction twice and it caused the skin where my patch was to be very itchy and red. I just took the patch off and placed it elsewhere and it was fine. Totally recommend these, any questions let me know.

Has anyone been on buprenorphine 8mg x 3 daily as long as I have since 2007? Obviously I started out taking the brand name which was a great product. Since a good year ago I'm having trouble with it working...I asked my dr, is it possible its stopped for me because of all the years of usage? NO IS THE ANSWER...then I'm thinking ok then what's going to? So my dose was increased to 3 and a half as of now...if still no results I'm back to 4 8mgs a day again. It's not that they are not working at all, I'm not in w/ds, just not right...I switched manufacturers and still not much luck..so now I'm desperate to find the new released Rhodes..I'm not having any luck finding it at the moment I have actually called like 25 pharmacies in my area of southwest Florida..I was told if I can find a prime pharmacy I'd have maybe luck, but the Sarasota prime said NO. Can anyone give me some names of pharmacies please?

I don't remember if I replied back but the Rhodes are fantastic. It took alot of phone calls and going in and out of Pharmacy's. But my mom n pop pharmacy got them in...I was so tired of all the generics out there not living up to the original brand name subutex..yes, I usually get the hikma 54 411 but from now on its Rhodes..

Three cheers for Rhodes Pharma buprenorphine. Finally got them and they are the best I have experienced by far. Westward is second and easier to find. But my new compounding independent Pharmacy got the Rhodes RP b8 tablets for me. Great price too. Don't know how else anyone can get Rhodes. The cost is less than Sun, Hi-Tech and Actavis. Hopefully the chains will get a clue.

Teva at one time had a good bup it was white b 799 imprint but that was is gone I can't believe you had to search so hard for the orange half moon actavis they are all over here by me and most will brush that one away if all possible. I always avoid that one at all cost.but everyone is different..there is no comparison from actavis or Rhodes most definitely everyone would choose the new Rhodes like I said not only does it have more bup. But the bup taste in Rhodes is very smooth and very nicely made. Oh yes choose Rhodes you will be very pleased

Ooooooh no- withdrawals from Suboxone are only second to high doses(like above 80 mg a day) of Methadone- aka the worst drug known to man when it comes to tapering and w/d. I’d say the biggest mistake of my life- worse than losing my ability to work as a nurse- was staying on Suboxone as long as I did. If you’re concerned about getting off, I’d do it ASAP but very slowly.

I have been taking the AKORN brand (the arrow and 8 symbols) they done well for me. I have dry mouth it's horrendous. So I have a hard time dissolving pills they just sit under my tongue and taste like crap. Well AKORN filled for chapter 7 and I can no longer get them. Which tech would you all recommend? I need something small if it can be found

Yep we are having the same problem here in Michigan and Wisconsin. Obviously the US government is in cahoots with the cartels to get all addicts on Fentanyl and H. It's a f***** up world these days. No wonder the continual attempted indictments are only making Donald J Trump more popular, not their opposite intended effect!!

Hey Jessica. Sorry that the "orange half moon" pills didnt work out for you. I put them in my lip like chewing tobacco and they work great. The 54 411 Roxanne brand DOES work well also. I get pretty much the same effect from both the orange half moons and the 54 411's. I took the 54 411 for like 2.5yrs straight but the Walmart pharmacist started acting like a little ***** so I quit going there. Can't seem to find them anywhere else. But for now I guess I'll be sticking with the orange ones. Who else, besides Walmart, carries the 54 411's?

I’ve been stuck with the worst ones for months. I’m not sure what makes them be the worst. Can anybody explain? You think I can ask the pharmacy to order a different brand?

Activis is STILL garbage that DOES NOT WORK. Idk how you can seriously recommend this with SO MUCH evidence to the contrary that is all over the internet, and recently at that. I was on Activis, it was nothing but problems, and my doctor told me to try to get Mylan if possible, but I was only able to find 1/2 a months supply. They worked wonders, though.
Now I'm on Roxannes, and they're ALMOST as good. But nobody should pay a nickel for Actavis bupes: they're worse than worthless.

Hi James! So Suboxone strips & whether you mean Subutex sublingual tablets or Suboxone sublingual tablets (not sure) are virtually the same & provide the same effect & reaction. The only difference with Subutex is that it doesn’t have the added component of Nalexone which Suboxone does contain. Both carry Buprenorphine equally. Since you asked about which one would be better for pain, I’m wondering if you’ve ever heard of Butrans? It’s Buprenorphine in a patch form & strictly prescribed for people with around-the-clock pain. Maybe worth looking into.
