Generic Subutex/buprenorphine. Ranking From Best To Worst. (Page 7)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

This is for people who actually take Subutex for the intended purpose for which it is used. So if you actually take the medication sublingually, this thread will help you. I have been taking buprenorphine for three and a half years now. This is what I have found: (8mg)

Best: Actavis 153/half moon (orange)
Middle: Roxanne 54/411 (white)
Worst: Hi-Tech 8/arrow

Again, this is for people who take medication as prescribed. You can actually break the medication in half and put it and the front of your lip like dip & chewing tobacco. It will take longer for it to dissolve like this but you will get much much more of the bupe.

Oh gosh and I'm the one that would say orange half moon are completely the worst..they remind me of suboxone. My mind goes crazy I guess because I'm think I feel I'll of them and I always take the hikma 54 s ..the white ones .I feel like it's not supposed to melt as slow as it does and after a while it just starts to feel like a blob of something. Anyway . Now I prefer to the new Rhodes they melt very nicely the pill is so shiny well made by Purdue that put out the oxys.some company and a very good company making perfect looking pills.if you havnt tried them yet your missing out on one of the best generics to choose from they are very closely made like my old brand name subutex and teva brand.

Re: Lynn (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

This was very interesting to read..I have a sister who thinks methadone is king. While I take subutex and she is always the one somewhat to throw a line at me on how good her medication is to mine. A so on a bit worse I'd say..I love her to reag a few pages like this that I have bounced around on rxchat.com. I'd say your very brave on your accomplishments first kicking off drugs, the off methadone and onto subutex, while taking care of kids. I'm older but thats about what I did. It took me a long time to put my life together and I guess luckily my husband didn't just give up hope I'd be better one day...it was a huge struggle for me. I don't like suboxone back in 2005 when I started this they would put you on subutex for 6 days, on the 7th you start suboxone. Into the 3rd day I called the dr. Saying something is not right I dont feel like I did before. It feels more flat but they said it's the same..another few days I'm thinking humm..I want the subutex back so i read the side reactions and decided to have one..I called them from day on it was subutex no problem. And gosh I'm jealous I would do anything for your weight. I'm very tiny and thin I try hard but I for now have to accept it..I stared on elavil and ppl talk about weight gain so I have hope still ..see I just can't see me going to the clinic every day to get my dose, the intake, wait to see the dr. And do counseling I need my dose right by my bedside first it's my excedrin then my adderall and take two subs now back to back for a total of 4 8mg. I'm not a morning person at all I would be showing up like I crawled out of bed. They would look at me and think that lady is crazy.

Re: Charlene (# 91) Expand Referenced Message

Naxolone is another word for Narcan which is given to people who overdose on other drugs like oxycodone, oxycontin, and well anything narcotic. It was pushing the buprenorphine out of my system and making me awfully sick. Plus terrible back pain which is why I was originally put on perks, Roxy's and even Fentanyl. I was like a zombie and had my children scared to death. I NEVER want them to fill like that again. I went to a methadone clinic for 4 years and even when I decided to come off of it cause they certainly won't make you. I had gained 60 pounds and was in bad shape cause I lowered my dose to fast. I have never done heroin but those who have said it was harder to come off of than heroin and I believe them. I lost 50 pounds in 2 months. I was so sick I almost would have rather been dead. I am so thankful I found Subutex. I can skip a day and it doesn't affect me. With methadone I could not do that. However I never want Suboxone again either.

Re: Charlene (# 89) Expand Referenced Message

Same for me. My bottle is the Pharmacy bottle with their logo. No insert with it and bottle only says Buprenorphine Rhodes Pharma. Rhodes Pharma is an extension of Rhodes Purdue the big Oxycontin manufacturer in all this opioid epidemic hot water lawsuit gig going on. I imagine it is to protect their generic buprenorphine business that will someday soon outsell their Oxycontin business. I perused Rhodes Purdue website and got a lot of info. It's a family run business that was doing well enough before they started pushing Oxycontin. The head person is a doctor who claims responsibility for the RP b8 bupes. They're offering free bupes to certain treatment centers obviously to help counter with all the damage Oxycontin did. They knew how addictive it was and eventually will be paying out millions in lawsuits for a very long time. It's too bad because there really are people that have pain so bad they need Oxycontin. But that's how I turned a legal habit into an illegal and dangerous at times one. I really hope the government sees how vital it is to have buprenorphine available as methadone soon. Saved my life for sure. My friends are using kratom now after dosing down to 1mg sub a day. They really like it. Won't do me any good until and if I get down to that. Every time I want to drop or begin a taper off something happens. So after 40+ years off n on opiates I finally have a normal life. Eventually I would like to be clean. But for now I'm happy. And NOW really is all we have anyway. "Imagine all the people living for todayyyy woohoohooo".

Re: Lynn (# 84) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Lynn, I was reading you wrote someone here saying do not go back to or on suboxone I'm in total agreement I'm a buprenorphine patient since 2005 and have only taken suboxone for a few days. Emeditly I noticed I huge difference in the way I felt..I wasn't sick or anything I just felt flat. Back in the day all doctors started you out on subutex for 6 days on the 7th say it was suboxone..I had to call the dr. Back then twice to ask what's up..they had somewhat of a different story each time..all I knew my energy level was gone and mood lift.so again back then it was alot harder to get subutex instead of suboxone so I had to come up with something?? .. ok it wasnt write or much illegal but I said allergies...they of course ask what kinds? So I made sure to write some half important ones down along with minor..bingo from that day on I always get my subutex. Now suboxone has naloxone in it so that's what can make allergies happen. So I read that you wrote naloxone in suboxone has or is a narcon?? I dont know what narcon is...I thought it was something the hospital would give to an over dose patient?. Am I right, ?? I tried googling it. Thx

Re: Davidjw1 (# 88) Expand Referenced Message

I'm back david, you might be sorry you met me because as you can see, I can turn a question someone aaked me into a short story. Who knows why, I feel the need to try and explain things into detail to were someone else can get right to the point and be done and have it easy to read...no...not me ...it will be just about a letter as if we have known each other for years.... lol.. so my bottle or sheet of paper that comes with it says nothing...the only thing I can find is on the bottle itself does say Rhodes.... that's it...I looked for my other bottle to something. So I'm back to square one of not knowing where it came from so I guess for now I will just be greatful it does say Rhodes..have a great day friend, let's keep writing.. atleast until you reolize I write books lol

Re: Davidjw1 (# 88) Expand Referenced Message

Hi david, it's a pleasure to me to have met you if it be only through a darn drug recovery group.. it sounds exciting to hear you say (downtown San Francisco). I've never been to a city ever. Born in buffalo and my parents moved us to Florida when I was 12. I'm now 58 yrs old. My husband's sister live in San Francisco and she paid for my 3 children to visit. She would have paid for all 5 of us more than once, it's hard for him to get the time of for working for the city here and if he takes his vacation he wants to rest home and enjoy waking up not going in..he will retire soon and maybe I can talk him into then..so back to the bup. You know its crazy to this day I never stopped to look at where my Rhodes comes from? I have been excited all this time just to get the bottle into my hands I never looked. When I'm done here keep a look out I will let you know because I'm dying to share with you..and yes I Google alot like most I'm always interested in new info to read when I noticed they had and are getting sued by so many for the oxycontin use I got a bit nervous, thinking of my what if something happens and all of a sudden my preferred generic brand is gone just like that because of some lawsuit that could put them out of business? Idk and I hope my nightmare would never happen..all this time I have taken every generic out there and other than hikma 54 411s I only like 2 now. I used to always get stuck with the orange half moon..if it was not from a guy named boozer on a different rxchat.com forum I would have never known about Rhodes until they came ready available in my area or to think hunt around for the hikma. Until i find it... i write him the most. He seems very knowledgeable to me with great info and he goes out of his way to help me out with other topics like even magnesium....so I have never taken methadone but my sister does and she is ALWAYS comparing or making snickering remarks to me that have been driving me crazy.

So who do I have to complain about this to is goozer, a guy I dont know but has listened to my every comment story and then send me feedback that helps me feel better instantly. She is on it for a year now, and is only on it because her pain doctor got fed up with her and said get lost moreless, and had to detox in the hospital for 7 days they tried to push suboxone 8.2mg x 2 daily and she said and I agree that's was a joke compared to what she was using, now if at that time they offered her subutex maybe 3 or 4 like me it might have worked..she was taking from her pain management dr. A good cocktail of medications including oxy, fentanyl and much more from one single doctor. I to this day don't know much about either one other than the fact I know they are both one of the best most try to seek out if they are drug shopping. I don't understand fentanyl at all, it's a synthetic drug?? Meaning what?? And why do they say it's bad?? See I know nothing if everyone likes it and its made from a pharmaceutical company why is it bad or made to sound worse other than its addictive like many more more. And i know just because its pharmaceutical does not mean they are good but I don't get this one at all..if you have any knowledge please share with me at least for just info for my brain lol. Now I have to go see who puts out my Rhodes I have no clue, like I said I never thought to look, I was just so darn happy to have it b.c I didn't care..now I'm curious..I will talk to you soon..wow, I know a guy that lives in the city!!! Lol

Re: Charlene (# 87) Expand Referenced Message

Well it is nice to connect with others that take the Bupes too. It really has been a life saver for me amongst other positive results since actually staying on it. My Pharmacy gets them from Cardinal health, not McKesson (I work downtown San Francisco) walk by their building daily or Amerisource Bergen the other big distributors. So the cost varies I'm sure and Rhodes is really pushing their generic now. Ironic how they started the whole epidemic and now trying to clean up after it. Fine with me. They have millions in lawsuits too. Oxycontin turned them from a multi million company to multi billion dolkar conpany. Either way I am so happy not going through all the madness of addiction. Its maintenance medicine for me and hard to accept the apples to oranges thinking since my life is normal now . Oxys never made me feel normal. Only good temporarily and broke permanently. A lot of people still give us the sly eye but I understand if they do. Addiction ain't nuttin nice. I do hope this country can make buperenorphine/Suboxone readily availabke and affordable like they did with that awful methadone. I think so. It is the only way successfully, quickest and most affordable way to beat this epidemic we have. Or people will keep going to heroin and fentanyl themselves to death. and

Re: davidjw1 (# 86) Expand Referenced Message

Great...wow you have no idea how happy I am for you..I usually care a lot about people but for some reason feel a stronger pull from you..and we don't even know each other..but that's exactly what I feel about Rhodes product. They seem to melt like no other..and when someone like you or I take more than 2 or 3 daily that leaves your mouth with a constant bitterness all day..and somehow they were able to take down some of that bitter taste. Not fully but better. And the fact that this new generic is not only better tasting but wow, the price to..usually here around here they sell out of pocket for $3.50 a pill really just depends on what store or pharmacy your at.so for yours to sell them to you at that price is very cheap. They are making no money off you what so ever. Because a pharmacist not the one I use now I different one on my journey for the search for them told me they are as little as $2.40 a piece. That happened to be a pharmacy that was out of my reach I called they had them but it was at the panhandle of Florida and I'm in southwest Florida..a good 10 hours away. She just said she was surprised so many are having a difficult time getting them because they are very affordable. So other than the hikma 54 411s we finally have a generic worth spreading the word about or opening up a good discussion about..now you can help spread the message to help others out..write back it's so good to hear from you.

Re: Charlene (# 83) Expand Referenced Message

Yes I too take the same dosage as you do. Actually when I went to pick up my new Rhodes the pharmacist wouldn't fill it until my Dr okayed it. Even though she called in the dosage. He was concerned because Rhodes suggested only 24 mg a day but it of course got filled. I told him for almost two years I have been on 32 mg a day but he still had to be sure. So it is nice to know this new pharmacy I have actually cares and treats me like a human being. I really am fortunate to have found these people. They compound for people all over California. They don't take discount cards or any HMO insurance. Only PPO's. I cannot afford insurance and my company won't pay for it either. But I told them I pay out of pocket and got a great price. About $1.85 a tablet. Dr. called it in Tuesday at four and Thursday by 1, I am out the door a very happy camper. These are a bit stronger for sure. I take one and after one dissolves take the other. I am so blessed to find such an efficient and caring pharmacy. Very rare that happens anymore.

Re: Roxanne 56 (# 70) Expand Referenced Message

Hi again Roxanne, so I'm in port Charlotte Florida, nothing to with what I have to say,.. I started on brand name subutex, and have taken every generic except for Mylan and sun, they never crossed my path. My preference has always been hikma and now I'm on the new generic put out by perdue' distribution Rhodes I take 4 x 8mg day..so what a difference, finally a generic worth bragging about. Everyone I have spoken to have agreed 100% . Its crazy how we have something a notch up better than 54 411s..if that's even possible, oh yes it is..so I just stopped by to say hello. When I first started on buprenorphine back in 2005 for one week you were starting on subutex on the 8th day they moved you to suboxone, I noticed it was different just dosing once..but I gave it a fee days and thought yes, something is definitely different. I called the doctors office asking why? They continued to tell me I felt better with the subutex the first week because I was detoxing at that time and I should have felt beter. A week went by and I knew something's off. I called them again and they assured me ok.thats when I started to look into it myself and found out some people the naloxone does not agree with them and some allergies could follow. So I decided I had allergies to get the subutex back..and havr been on it ever since. So I do not like naloxone at all. And yes I get somewhat of a bump on subutex that I never got on suboxone. Actually suboxone made me tired. So look for the new Rhodes generic you will be pleased. They are CDC well made shinny to

Re: Roxanne56 (# 11) Expand Referenced Message

Do not go back to Suboxone. It actually has Naxolone in it that is really narcon. I could not understand after being on the small Subutex but got switched to Suboxone because I moved why I was hurting worse. Especially in my lower back. I looked it up and called my former doctor and he knew I don't take it 4 addiction because I have severe degenerative arthritis and was in bad car accident that almost killed me. However they did not discover I had actually crushed nerves in my neck and spine. I now drive 100 miles every 3 months to my former doctor and get the small ones cause I do not care for the bigger ones. I was actually offered Fetnayl patches at a pain med clinic but I have no desire to be high around my grandchildren. I hope this helped some.

See, I told you.. you would love..and the price is a great benefit to add...after I told my small pharmacy to order them, they called thanking me because well they are very affordable to them also..they make very good money just from me because my doctor order 120.. so add it up for them and wow...luckily I have insurance, my co pay is always$45 a month.. but for those self cash people if the pharmacy's dont try to rip them off it makes a very good and affordable medacine for all involved

Re: Charlene (# 80) Expand Referenced Message

Three cheers for Rhodes Pharma buprenorphine. Finally got them and they are the best I have experienced by far. Westward is second and easier to find. But my new compounding independent Pharmacy got the Rhodes RP b8 tablets for me. Great price too. Don't know how else anyone can get Rhodes. The cost is less than Sun, Hi-Tech and Actavis. Hopefully the chains will get a clue.

I got stuck with the orange half moon ones the month before. I was just like you feeling I'll just not right..I called my doctor told her the story. So she called in a months worth of nausea medacine and clonadine..it worked very good. But I still had to stick with the orange half moon. I asked if I can take them back or give them to my doctor..the only thing I would have had to do is pay cash price..I have insurance and had no money to do that. Call your doctor and see

Re: Benzonator (# 79) Expand Referenced Message

If your looking for one that does not have that hard bup taste...then you should try the new Rhodes that just came out. This is my first month on them and I can tell you they match up perfectly with roxanne/westward/hikma. The 54 411s they are the perfect bup out there. I could hardly stand the after taste of the buprenorphine left in my mouth. Well I do take a high dose (8mg x 4 day), so taking 4 pills I'd wait awhile so you can brush your teeth. I just can rave enough about Rhodes, they are definitely smooth, they dissolve well and best yet no aftertaste. I've been taken buprenorphine for almost 15 years now. I started out on name brand subutex. Tried all the other generics. So Yahoo Rhodes.

I was on Roxane brand (the big round white ones) generic for Subutex for nearly 15 years. They seemed to work well. Then Hi-Tec came out with the little white ones with the 8 on one side and an arrow on the other. I prefer the Hi-Tec because (a) they dissolve much faster and (b) don't taste as bad.

Re: Lolo (# 76) Expand Referenced Message

Just wondering if your from Florida area? Just because I noticed you mentioned the grocery store publix..I have never bumped into either sun brand or Mylan since my buprenorphine treatment back in 2007. I take 4 8s a day..but when I heard we had a new generic Rhodes on the market my hunt began. Calling places walking into places if I was in an area of a pharmacy. So I walked into publix to ask.what they carried that store told me sun I've never gotten my bup in a publix before no special reason idk .its crazy because I have 5 stores in close range of my home and have at least 4 relatives that work for publix and 2 aunts retired .. I never bumped into sun, Mylan ever...now I also have again 5 Walgreens in my area to one is walking distance. They have carried orange half moon forever and that the spot of last resorts I ordered from them like I said it would have to be a desperate situation for me. I hate them. Number 1, they have less bup in them compared to all the others..and they make me like a dull feeling. My dr.has to give me clonadine for the month if I had ended up with them live heard alot of bad results about sun and most ppl don't like actavis so .... I really hate to complain to much about them really because in the back of my mind it thinks what if they disappeared somehow from the opioid epidemic going on. I know it will never happen. But I try to accept them because we actually need them.

Rhodes and teva are closes to brand name and Rhodes and teva generic have the same active and inactive ingredients where as Rhodes has tri sodium citrate dyhydrate teva has sodium citrate. it is funny because Rhodes and teva are almost identical to brand name subutex in their active and inactive ingredients making them the best next to brand name.

Re: Elle (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

Yes the ones from Sun Pharmaceuticals I've never seen anywhere else but Publix they did burn my tongue at first but after getting them for a few months it goes away. They do their job though I think the worst ones are the orange activist ones those are the worst. And most places only have the orange ones now now. I have told the pharmacy not to give me those because I had a bad reaction so after filling a few times after I went home the next day I looked at my prescription and it was the orange one so I called them and they said there's nothing they can do that's what they're getting for now on so now I'm screwed and stuck with these. I'm going to go into my doctor to see if there's anything that they can do because I was taking the ones that are white and round with a 924 on it I think it was but as soon as I took the orange moon one I felt really sick and really weird and really tired I laid in bed all night tossing and turning feeling really hot and so tired but couldn't sleep I was so scared because of how bad I was feeling and now I have a month prescription of those I don't know what the hell to do because I got them from Publix and they told me that's all they're getting for now on and there's nothing they can do.
