Generic Norco M367 10/325 (Page 7)
UpdatedIt's no good. I have to take three at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Anybody else have this problem with M367 - 10/325? Has anyone else noticed that meds from certain manufacturers do not work as well for them?
The actual medication in the Butrans is Buprenorphine. I found that researchers back in the 1960s were looking for an alternative to morphine--one that had the benefits of morphine, but did not have the draw backs of morphine (I.e., physical dependence). The result was a semi-synthetic opioid, called Buprenorphine. It was used in Europe for chronic pain before the FDA approved it for the same use in the USA (about 5 years ago). However, the FDA approved it's use as a treatment for opioid-addicts well before they approved it for chronic pain. The same drug is found in Suboxone, which is usually the last step in getting addicts off of opioids. But, unlike the Suboxone, Butrans contains a much smaller amount/dosage of the drug, and is delivered through the patch/skin every hour. The only skin irritation I've had from it was when I used a different tape to secure it to my skin, other than that, I've had no other reactions to it. Also, when the FDA made Norco, etc. higher controlled substances, they left the Butrans in the lower controlled class, so your doctor can still call it in.
that's correct I have to take 3 as wellI get the white ones as well the yellow worked way more betterand it had a more lasting effect.I'm going to tell my pain management doctor next month when I go if I can get the yellow ones back
Just filled a Norco 325/10 I've been on it for 3 years for back pain.
I was getting the yellow pills up till now, this time they gave me m367 white pill
I take 2 every 4 to 6 hours the yellow pills were fine. the m367 pills the first time I
tried it because I take them one hour before I get up so I can get dressed easyer
in the morning. these m267 pill had no effect or very little. not shure what to do
take it back take it to the doc and ask for a new script or just put up with for 30 days
this is really screwed up I'm not able to do the work I did. I can't believe the
difference in a name which makes me wonder about other pills like antibiotics. I
take 6 a day of the yellow but if I want the same pain relief I have to take 10 a day
I got the m367 s Rite Aid this time because the other store I normaly go to did not have the stock
in short this is junk and a waist of money
Rite aide will be no help for u I started out there ended up at walgreens and they keep changing manufactures pills are no good I went to Vons pavilion and they have the yellow ones if I was you I would not complain to the pharmacies they will put you on there do not fill list good luck
I found a new pain management doctor. She is kind and thorough and I do like her a lot. I have many issues, herniated bulging discs, and knees need replacement but I am not a candidate for surgery.
I had been given three Norco 10 /325 and she was worried about that dosage. I had to sign a contract for the first time in my life. I must take a U/A next monthly visit. It is hard when the urine does not go into the cup.
I could never get more pills. I had to leave my last doctor because he wanted me to take only two a day. This doctor was highly recommended for pain issues.
I am shocked that anyone can get more than three a day. That dosage seems to work for me but I hope I do not get into trouble again with the dosage being lowered. I have not had any negative experiences and no Dr has fired me. I wonder if it is my state?
I've been on norco 10/325 for almost a year and it does work if you take it as prescribed. If you aren't feeling anything then sounds like you are building a tolerance. Going to pharmacies and demanding answers will get you no where and will and does sound like a drug addict that wants a better high. Plus the pharmacies are filling what the Dr prescribed so best bet would be to talk to your Dr instead and PM clinics are catching on to people that ask for stronger meds. What was you doing or how was you getting by before the pain meds? If you can't live or cope without them then you are already addicted. If I run out I can wait the rest of my month till I get my script and don't have any withdrawals cause I take my meds like my Dr said I never abuse them. And generic is the same thing lol everyone knows that. Same ingredients just cheaper for insurance companies. And good luck writing your congressman lol won't get you far at all because they are catching on to everyone that so called can't bare the pain. Complaining just makes it worse. Everyone b****ing on every website about this is just letting the dea know that they are doing something right. Good luck to all and I'm so thankful I don't abuse my meds, reading some of these posts make me feel so much better knowing I'm not addicted and don't complain at all. I bet my Dr and pharmacy loves me, something different instead of the same b****ing problems by almost everyone. I'm a breath of fresh air to them, maybe that's why I never get treated or looked at like an addict. I see my Dr and get my meds and get them filled all with no b****ing or problems.
Precious. I to take my meds as prescribed and if I run out which I never do I can wait also I have been on pain meds for 3 years for problems I do not wish to discuss with ignorance.I have never had a problem with any of my doctors who are all on the same page #no cure. It is with the manufacturers I have also been speaking with the fda to ensure the meds are better regulated and testing you see some of the opiates they are putting in your Norco 10/325 are a derivative of morphine which I am allergic to.they are making the drug this way to stop abuse which I know there is a lot of but what about the people who are dying and no cure for the disease they should not have to suffer because of this it is up to your doctors to decide if you need this med and the pharmacies should have a list of your condition so they do not treat everyone like a drug addict.
Precious,
I think you need to let us know who your are addressing. Most of us do not have a problem with drugs.
You need to be fair and not attack others. You do not know their situation. I am elderly and your remarks do not bother me. I have learned that people who are unkind and judgmental are very unhappy people.
You seem to think you are above everyone else because of the amount you take? I am wondering what lead you to this site.
Well said, Patti. I am sorry you are suffering with something that is not curable. My prayers your way. I have been waiting for 2 weeks for the mail order pharmacy to fill my prescription (required now by my insurance to us this pharmacy), and of course, due to the delay, I have run out. I honestly can say I have not been in this overall pain situation for years. I can barely move and when I do it screams pain at me. The FDA is in cahoots with the government and over-regulated as it is. I am afraid for what the future holds for those of us who do need our "real" pain meds. Best of luck to you, Patti.
Sorry, I misspelled your name, Patty.
Walgreen have name brands and they seem to work for me hope that helps
Goldee, I agree with you!
M367 is such bs took two did not feel nothing.
Bottom line, my pharmacist told me to have my doctor write: "Qualitest brand only..no substitutions." It is a generic Norco (10/325 yellow oblong pills) and it is the only brand that I can take and have it do the job that it was meant to do without over-medicating. It takes longer to get it through the mail order pharmacy (usually 2-3 weeks). I have found that many local pharmacies (in San Diego County) no longer carry Qualitest brand. I guess they make more money on the M367's than the Qualitest, but the patient suffers in the long run. You may want to have a discussion with your physician and ask him/her what they recommend. It just seems so unreal that with the government regulations and the new classification of the opiate medications, how awkward you feel when you do question the pharmacists and doctors. At a time in our history when wonderful medical achievements are happening every day, it seems so rediculous that we should feel guilty about asking for the medication that works for us individually. Well, I will get off my soapbox now.
Sandy,
The pharmacies I have been to do not have Qualitest. It is all Activis. I asked if they have any other brand and they said no. I have tried three pharmacies and no one carries the good brand. Then too I have heard they are not stocking as much of Norco because too few doctors are prescribing it.
Precious, I am glad you think you are not physically dependant because you take your meds how your doctor says to take them. We do as well. Most of us are on pain meds due to chronic, long term conditions and want to have at least a attempt at a quality of life. All opiates cause physical dependence when taken long enough. When you have chronic pain, your doctor understands this and knows this is the only option for most with said chronic conditions. When they changed the schedule of Norco, there was an issue getting the medicine. So we were forced to call and go to pharmacies in order to find pain meds many of us had been on long term. We were treated badly and degraded as if we were addicts. Most of us were in so much pain that I know I wasn't sure what to do. The way the government involved itself made many of us subject to endure a lot of pain which was unnecessary. There were better ways of curbing the abusers of pain meds, which most obtained through doctor shopping or on the street, not the legal way. I hope you never have to experience chronic pain that is an 11 on the 1-10 scale. And by the way, generics are not as regulated as you think, they are required to only have the active ingredient in a range, so they can vary from pill to pill, as well as the fillers used are not required to be the same so some meds are effective for some and others are not. Google it, you may be surprised. Judge not lest ye be judged.
Nikki generics are not the same as they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. They are allowed a range for the active ingredients (not exact mg required) and the fillers used can be different as well, so it can vary also from company to company. The yellow Norcos are obviously a different manufacturer than the white. Research it, you may be surprised.
Just had the same change for my
Rx, haven't notice any dif, but as time passes everything looses its effect.
Open for conversation on this matter.
I had the same problem I talk to my pharmacist and he said since they all have the same amount of the main pain reliever hydrocodone I could try taking one Tylenol with it since it only has 325 mgs of acetaminaphen....Tylenol ... and that acts as a booster to the hydrocodone. He said if adding one Tylenol to my dose didn't help ask my doctor about changing to oxycodone ie Percocet but not to add more than one Tylenol to dose bcuz of liver. That worked for a long time but eventually I did talk with my doc and he put me on rocicet 10 mg which is plain oxycodone with no acetaminaphen but it works great
Precious-Did you say you have been taking Norco 10/325 for ALMOST a year? Wow, you have no clue. A year is well after all of the changes took place. I had been taking generic Loritab for 2 years before the change. It worked great. Never a weakness problem at all, ever. Precious, if your pain is so mild that you are completely satisfied with what you are taking and how you are taking it, you are the kind that did not need it in the first place. Loritab was the most prescribed before you started taking Norco. You would not know the difference and we all know that. Generic brands in any narcotic pain medication vary depending on how close a duplicate of the brand name was made. It is the combination of fillers and etc that determine how that medication operates in a body to relieve pain. Some additives vary in compound and that compound/fillers determine how the active ingredients are distributed in the body to relieve pain. If the combination of these fillers are not accurate to a point where the generic does not do what the brand name does, it is very noticeable to the user. If a user has real pain and that pain is blocked correctly, the generic manufacturer has done a correct duplication of the brand name medication. If not, the medication does not work to relieve real pain. Getting a euphoric feeling fades away after time (a year or so), but the blocking agents still block pain. If a person with chronic has been taking these meds for an extended period, at which YOU have not, that person has most likely experienced a noticeable difference in pain relief after the changes were required in this particular medication. Chronic pain sufferers can care less about any high or euphoric feeling. The generic brands have yet to get this reduction in Tylenol correct in their versions to match the effectiveness of what was once prescribed (Generic Loritab) before patients were force to be switched to Norco. Norco was always the weaker beforehand and was not prescribed or as effective before the change anyway. These generic companies are either trying to save money because they know the FDA can care less about checking the amounts of active ingredients in these medications now, or the generic drug manufacturer's cannot get the formula right for this forced change by Government to make their product as effective as the Loritab did before the reduction in the Tylenol. The DEA probably loves this situation because without this Norco medication being as effective on real pain as the the Loritab, it deters recreational demand and usage among people it was not intended. Both the FDA and DEA are Government agencies, and both can care less about the real chronic pain sufferer because the medication used by these sufferers was abused. "The needs of many out weigh the needs of a few". They figured out that all they had to do was require a reduction in an ingredient and the problem is solved for a couple of years. Or, until the manufacturers can get the formula right again. These equivalent generic formulas took a lot of time to formulate before, and it is most likely the Guv knew good and well it would take a lot of time for these companies to create a new formula that worked again. This is a prime example of why Government should not be able to have control of the US population by jeopardizing the healthcare of others to control bad social behavior. So Precious, please do your research and come back when you have some real experience on a topic before you post please.
