I have recently started taking generic Lipitor made by Ranbaxy and I'm experiencing tinnitus. Has anyone else experienced this??

I heard in older women lipitor can cause type 2diebetes, after taking zocor, 20 mg for a couple of years , I recently had lab work done, my cholestorol was high and so was my blood sugar, so after other tests, I was diagnosed with being prediabetic, and given 40 mg of lipitor, any comments.
Could you please let us know if you ran your trial without the generic Lipitor and, if so, were there any effects on the tinnitis?
I have two friends that decided to look for an alternative to Lipitor and they found one at Melaleuca. I know this doesn't answer your question but, hope it will help you know there are safer products to get healthier results.
Please let us know whether or not you are successful.
Thanks.
I also started taking the generic Lipitor (around Nov 15th) and my right ear started ringing on the 28th. I have continued to take the generic and the ringing has persisted. I asked my doctor if it could be related to the generic and she didn't think so. But as of yesterday my left ear started ringing also. So I am stopping the generic and hoping my hearing recovers.
Here are some of the known side effects:
-upper belly pain
-yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes
-dark amber colored urine
-Muscle problems
-Liver problems
-loss of appetite
-feel tired or weak
Tinnitus is not on the list, but you should still contact your doctor.
It's been about 3 weeks and the intensity fluctuates. I've been thinking that if it doesn't improve I would stop the generic Lipitor for about 10 days or so to see if the symptoms decrease or hopefully disappear. My doc says he never heard of any problem with the generic I'm taking (although it's pretty new) and nothing can be done about tinnitus. But I've been told that I can stop the Lipitor immediately (i.e. no taper off) and that there's no rebound. So, after the holidays I will do that and I'll report back in case any one else needs the info.
These statin medications are notorious for causing odd problematic side effects in a fairly large percentage of people that try them.

It can take about a month for your body to adjust to the medication and for such side effects to start tapering off in severity. If it doesn't, or if it gets worse, then you should notify your doctor.
How bad is it?
