My Dr. took me off the Wellbutrin because it was making me sick. I have been taking the Generic kind. I just got a new refill, Generic Bupropion but they look just like the Wellbutrin & my stomach pain has come back. I need help. What do the Generic Bupropion look like?

I agree, I'm on buporpion 300 xl once a day for 4 mos. Now. I don't feel any different I found myself crying for no reason the other day. Anyways I chewed on it and I felt kinda tweaky and avoided eye contact with anyone. I'll never do that again. I emailed my Doc to see if there is anything else she can prescribe me, as long as I don't gain weight. Btw I do notice that the smell of cigarettes disgusts me. I would socially smoke only when I drink but now when I drink I avoid being near it cuz it makes me sick.

there are so many different types of generic wellbutrin, im a little confused. i just rec the bupropion HCL XL 150mg and told to take 1 tab a day for 5 days then 2 a day thereafter. my original prescription was for "wellbutrin 1504 od x 3 then 1 x 2 a day." is this generic a correct dosage substitute? Help. very confused. Is the generic stronger than the original maybe?

I just received a Rx for Watson BuPROPion Hycrochloride (XL) and am scared to take one. I have tried other antidepressants and hated them. Some of them made me feel phsychotic; I would much rather be depressed than have my head messed up with drugs.

I started with bupropion 150 sr and then asked the Dr. to change me to bropropion 300 hcl xl. I was hoping to drop a few pounds like other people but have actually gained a few. Hum.... Today I called the pharmacy and asked if there are different companys who manufacture the meds. Found out there are 2 one is watson the other is par pharm I believe she said. Its interesting cuz watson was a bit more in price and carried by costco. Fred myers in my area carried the par pharm.. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the meds depending on the company who makes them

My dr prescribed me buproprion hcl xl 150. According to his instructions, i am to take 3 pills once a day (which is 450 mg a day). is this safe?

Just got switched from Wellbutrin XL brand name to the generic version Buproprion XL made by Watson. The difference is noticeable and not positive. This is the second time I have had problems with the generic version and the insurance company (Aetna) keeps pushing generics. I do not feel anywhere as good on the generic as I did on the brand name. I will try and get them to change back to the brand again. Wish me luck!

Does bupropion hcl xl 150 cause blood pressure to increase? That is what I am most concerned about. I finally have mine down to a good level.

I am not sure if it is safe because my mother was prescribed 3 pills once a day last Friday and began to losing her balance when she walked when she would get up to go into another room she would stumble as if she was drunk this continued for the past 3 days on the fourth day she was doing alittle better but she experienced stomach pains that night and she began having trouble getting out of bed , Wednesday morning my father got her dressed to take her to the emergency room but when he got out to the living room she collapsed I had to help him get her into the chair he then called 911 by the time the paramedics got to our house she stopped breathing they tried cpr before they took her to the hospital and at the hospital they tried everything but couldn't bring her back . We are now waiting to see what the blood test that the coroner took comes back to see if it was the pill that caused this. We just buried her today.

For those who have had bad experience with Bupropion and have only been on it for a short time, maybe there is something that you may not be aware of. Sometimes when prescribed a new med, it takes several weeks to build up to a therapeutic level. I have been on it for 8-9 years (75 mg), and I don't have any problems with it at all. I had Gastric Bypass surgery back in 2004 and lost 170 lbs. The Bupropion HCL has never been a weight gainer for me. BUT, the BIG problem that I am having now is that I am on several other anti-depressants, mood stabilizers, and every one of them has severe weight gaining effects. I have gained 90lbs. I have been having ECT’s for 3 years, and even with all the meds, I’m still depressed. I’m on way too many! I’m putting all of that crap in my body, and now I am obese and still depressed. What good is it doing? Even my PCP wants me off some of these. I starve myself, and just can’t lose weight and it is because of medications. So, I want to detox off of the “bad drugs†and raise the level of Bupropion HCL in their place to see how that works. I don’t know what else to do. I have very high hopes. The manufacturer is Mylan. Anyone know anything about the quality of their product?

The same thing is happening to me. I have been taking Bupropion for 3 years and just recently a rash when I am working out. It starts off by itching a bit around the back of my neck and if I continue to work out it spreads from my neck to my entire chest and back. When I stop working out it itches, burns and hurts. I tried to take a cold shower to get the burning to stop but that does not seem to work.

I started taking Bupropion HCL XL 150MG once a day on Jun 28 2013. The side effect that is given me the most problem is constipation. Wondering once the drug gets in my system will this subside? I'm taking the drug to help me stop smoking. I am experiencing headaches, nausea and sleeplessness, but again I'm hoping this what's subside. But my misery right now is constipation.

Yes I too am expericing the same thing of rash irritation between my legs and creases in my back area. I thought the same thing that this rash came for a heat rash, but later found that this medication can cause rash irritation. Although I have experience the heavy sweating, and mood swings the longer I take the medication the sweating and mood swings has gone away. I still have the rash irritation and I have called my doctor, so I am going to see her today.

Please let me know what your doctor said about the rash between the legs, as I am experiencing the same thing. I've been on Buproprion SL (200 mg/day) for a month and have had a bad inner thigh/groin rash for a week now. Did you have to quit taking Wellbutrin? Did the rash clear up?

I chew mine and everyone says not to do that, but I've been on it for a year and the worst that had happen is I get hot and sweaty out of no where sometimes but no issues other then that so I would think its okay. Call your pharmacy and ask.

When I began taking a generic bupropion, intense itching began on my scalp and neck next to the hairline. I also developed a patch of rash on my lower back and under my breasts. The rash has improved but the intense itching on my scalp has not only continued for 3 weeks it is worse. Prescription shampoos from the dermatologist have not helped. Bupropion is the only change I've made so I'm wondering if it is what is causing this scalp itching. It is tormenting me. When I called the psychiatrist's office, he said I would have a rash all over if this was from the medication so they do not think it is. Has anyone else had this localized reaction on this scalp?

I am on the generic Wellrutrin . I started nearly a month ago. Unlike constipation , I am experiencing Diarrhea daily. I eat before I take it. Also although I know this is gross but I have noticed that my pills are coming out nearly whole. What's this all about?

Yes, it can cause itching on your scalp. I know this from personal experience. I have taken the generic bupropion on and off for the last several years. The first time, the manufacturer was mylan. I had itchy scalp, cystic acne all over my face, and eventually noticed hair loss. I quit taking it for a long time, but the depression was bothering me so much that I needed another medication. I tried a ton of antidepressants that only made me feel worse (and other anti depressants also caused itchy scalp and hair loss too, such as the old tricyclic Imipramine (tofranil) and when I have pristiq a try, I believe my scalp itched as well and I felt worse, so I only took that for a week or two. Long story short, I ended up asking for wellbutrin again. This time I got the Sandoz generic. I have been taking it for a couple of months or so, 75mg immediate release tablets twice a day. In the past month, I have developed painful and embarrassing cystic acne all over my chin (no other part of my face, just my chin), have really not seen much difference in my depression. I never got any motivation like I did when I took it several years ago and to be honest I feel upset and agitated most of the time. Recently, my scalp began to itch again. It's usually the top of my head or the back of my head and I have noticed that if I scratch my head, sometimes a piece of hair comes off onto my finger, looking like it came out straight from the root, not just broken off. I had a haircut recently, so there is alot of hair on my pillowcase, but I keep wondering if my hair is falling out more too. The best way to tell is to brush my hair after showering and see how much hair comes out on the brush. I just wanted to let you know that yes, this can definitely give you an itchy scalp, and I never had any luck with the anti dandruff shampoos except with the medicated Selsun blue (with the red cap) and also another thing that helped was scrubbing my scalp with the Neutrogena body scrub for acne (it's an orange scrub with salicylic acid in it.) If I leave hair products in my hair for too long, it starts itching, so the best way that I managed the itching was to wash my hair everyday and scrub with the Neutrogena stuff. I have a doctor appointment this coming Thursday and to be honest I may not stick with the wellbutrin because even though it doesn't cause weight gain or libido problems, I don't think it's really helping my depression enough this time around for me to have to put up with the acne and the scalp/hair issues. The only way it will stop is to stop the medication and it should only take a few weeks to start noticing that the side effects are subsiding as the medication gets out of your system.
