Generic Buprenorphine 54 411 Vs M 924 (Page 2)

I've been going to a clinic for almost a year now and each time I get prescribed 8mg Subutex. When I would fill my prescription I would receive 54 411 white tablets. Today when I picked it up I got M 924 white tablets. The only difference I've found is the manufacturer. The manufacturer for the 54 411 is ROXANE and for the M 924 is MYLAN. Are they pretty much the same pill just different imprint/manufacturer?
Re: Colt45 (# 197)
You’re not supposed to insufflate your medicine. All my friends do that but it is actually abusing it and making the people who put it under their tongue like prescribed look bad. It’s not fair they treat everyone as if they abuse subutex and there’s people like me that don’t.
Re: Burnt (# 198)
What state and what was the pharmacy in the walmart thanks
Illymae (# 20)
I've tried several generics. I stuck with the M 924. For me, they are consistently the best.
Re: Illymae (# 18)
No I just got the roxx brand today still available I got them at Walmart
Re: Drew (# 194)
That makes sense. I’m in Ohio, and am just now getting the 54 411’s again (westward) they’re the same as before, only not shiny and more calky. But they still work fantastically and don’t hurt or burn when used intranasally either ;)
bethanynichole2813 I was just wondering what pharmacy you use to still get them the 54 411?
Yes, ive been going for 6 years ive gotten the orange ones small ones 54 411 and m 924. I actually prefer the Mylan because the taste isnt quite as strong. It is simply a different manufacturer. I think there is a shortage they have been tough to ger the past couple of months
Mylan brand almost sent me back into relapsing after 6 years clean....Roxanne (now westward) are so much better. Mylan brand caused me to feel withdrawal symptoms and it caused me sever depression. It was honestly an absolute nightmare. My CVS is currently on back order for my Westward/Roxanne brand, so there might be a shortage. This happened 9 months ago as well when Westward purchased Roxanne. Recently Westward shut down their generic plant and moved it to OH so the shortage is likely directly related to this. I would call your doc and explain....ask for another script and call every pharmacy in the state lol. I am about to drive 2 hours to get mine.
Re: Illymae (# 20)
There is definitely a difference. I posted earlier today that I was on the original Subutex for about 2 years, then was switched to the Mylan 460. Within a week, I had to double my dose to have the same efficacy of the original. I'm now on the Roxanne's with the 54 111 imprint and comfortably back to 8mg per day. Whoever is telling us all of them are the same is ignorant. Some of the generic brands have as much as 20% less buprenorphine in them along with fillers that both effect their duration and cause side effects I've never experienced.
Re: Subsforlife (# 191)
Yes thank God I found my Roxane/Westward 54_11 at walmart!! I called Westward a few months ago and after all the many complaints the lady said they were no longer made at Sun pharmaceutical in India. She was very excited and assured me they were equal to the previous Roxane brand. I can agree with that having been back on this brand for months. Also if you don't have insurance most pharmacies take an Rx coupon. A friend gets 60 8mg for 115.00. I've read somewhere that there is a new generic subutex out??? Anyone know what the results are?
Re: Roxanne56 (# 186)
I still get the 54 411. If that's what your talking about. Still here in N.C.
Re: suffering 63 (# 21)
If Percocet 20 mg a day isn't enough for your pain, then face it your an addict as well. How can u down addicts and say it's our fault that doctors quit writing pain meds b/c of us? It's the doctors fault anyway pushing pain meds on you constantly. I have been clean 13 months and 15 days. I think Subutex/Suboxone is a life saver, u have never been an addict so don't judge ppl when u have no idea what it's like. Having cramps, can't sleep, nausea, vomiting, chills, sweats, just feels like utter death... So STFU!
Re: T (# 1)
Hi. I do know all that matters is you're getting the right meds. Neither one is stronger. The 54 411 is made by Roxane manufacturer and the m924 is made by Mylan. Now I have heard from people that the m924s have more filler than the 54s. It all depends on how you take your medication honestly. I would not recommend ever abusing them. Do your research on the bioavailability. You'll be surprised. Well, hope this helped. Take care and congrats on the road to recovery. Just don't replace one addiction for another. Take as directed as you wean yourself off. If not, your Dr should already be doing that. Your dose should go down 15 pills as every couple of months pass. My Dr had me down from 90 tablets 3x daily and over a year now down to a quarter once daily, and if I don't take it, I can't even tell.
Re: Harry (# 12)
I've taken the Mylan M 924 and Roxanne 54 411 with no noticeable difference except the M 924 is a harder pill. The Reckitt Benckiser B 8 were also great along with the Teva B 799's. The worst of the bunch imo, are the HiTech tiny bupe pills. I suppose they may be a dream for those wanting less adultrants for IV abuse, but the pill felt about HALF as effective as the others.
This is my preferred order: 54 411, B 799, B 8 (discontinued) then M 924.

Taper very slowly, and pray. Worst detox of my life
Re: Please no more Activas (# 176)
I realize that this may sound like paranoia or something but I'm really beginning to think the government FDA is behind the extreme inconsistent and inefficient generic subutex. I mean I took the Roxane brand since 2005..No problem. Every my major depression disorder subsided. Now the pharmaceuticals are junk. I have tried them all. Roxane was bought out by Westward but that's impossible to obtain. It's Sun pharmaceutical company in India. We are screwed. My happy pill that saved my life is forever gone. I hear the mayor in NYC proposed a plan similar to UK or Canadian: monitor IV sights to administer heroin to eliminate ods. The other alternative is the poison methadone, the worst opiate on the planet to me - or suboxone. No mention of subutex. It's all about money too. Federal grants may be decreased with subs. Pharmaceutical Companies at war. I mean Roxane brand was sold for 2.1 billion dollars. Anyway, opioid crisis or what. Opium is being dumped in tons from Afghanistan, Mexico, etc. For me, I might as well try tapering off. It's all junk!!!
Re: T (# 3)
I agree with that..after taking the 54 411...these M94 don't seem to do anything
Re: Subzero Subutexn (# 169)
I would try to get him outta there too! If a doctor writes a prescription for you, it is because that's what the doctor says you need, who is a pharmacist to question the Dr? They need to just fill the damn script and stop abusing their authority.
Re: kcannon (# 181)
Moving that way soon. Do you see a doctor for them?
Re: Steph (# 180)
HI Steph,
I used to believe that the differences between brand name and generics was too minimal for there to be a physiological difference and that any subtle differences would be nothing to complain about.
I too believed the same thing for generic vs generic (same generic, just different manufacturers).
That all changed when I experienced a full month on Activas instead of Roxanne.
Nothing could possibly ever change my belief now that the differences can truly be significant - both physically and mentally.
I thought, and hoped, that I'd adjust to the difference's in a week, max. Things only worsened over time.
I hope you're serious about really doing research. It is going to be very difficult since the differences people feel, or not feel, can too easily vary between individuals.
Too many variables are at play, which is what makes effective research so hard to conduct.
(I.e. other meds people take, diets, habits, sleep patterns, etc.)
The experience I had, and am so worried about having to go through again this month, is very real.
Fortunately I was able to get Roxanne/westward again last month, but it was the 2nd half of the previous months bottle.
They ordered it again last month and it never came..... waiting on them to try another order...
