Generic 10mg Oxycodone Ir Kvk Brand. Any Info About Known Quality Of This Med Compared To Other Generics? (Page 3) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have seen so many different opinions and information about companies offering generic oxycodone and the differences in strength, and quality over other generic brands. I have also heard that the FDA allows from 12% to 20% variances in the active ingredient (oxycodone) in their pills. Which if i am understanding this correctly, they can be + or - 12 to 20% of the actual amount of oxycodone per tablet? Can someone with the expertise or knowledge (like a pharmacist or a doctor) explain this to us who have heard this and don't understand? I personally suffer with chronic pain from a construction accident 20 yrs ago in which my back was broken in 7 places along with a lot of muscle and nerve damage which has left me on disability and in chronic pain after 4 surgeries and 7 levels of my spine fused. I currently take 150mg's of oxycodone IR daily, and I have noticed the difference between different manufactures of the same medicine at the same size tablet. My doctor said he could specify a certain 'generic' brand on my prescription, but that my insurance company will only pay for a generic equivalent to a 'specified brand name' IE: Roxicodone is the brand name, but I can only receive the generic equivalent to that, like KVK, or qualitest, mallankrodnt (sp?) etc. Does anyone know which 'generic' brand of oxycodone (10mg IR) is known to be of the highest quality and potency? Any help or information would be great. Chronic Pain survivors and those who suffer with pain, God Bless You and I hope you have a pain-free day (if possible)..Tommy
I take 10 my Oxycodone IR and I have taken different generics depending on the pharmacy that I go to, and I don't see a difference. First off, you said that you can only change pharmacies once a year. Whose rule is that? What do you do if your pharmacy is out? Next you said that you are prescribed 150 mg/day, so your doctor prescribes 15 pills/day? That doesn't make any sense. I am prescribed 10s and 5s with fewer 5s in hope that I can drop the 5s. I was in a bad car accident and 18 months ago I was on 320 IR/day and 180 mg Oxycontin. In no way, shape, or form does 40-50 mg/day take care of my pain, but it helps.
This is the problem for people with real pain when the addicts as opposed to the pain patients who are dependent on them for help with the pain. Addicts can't control the pills, the minute they get their supply it's gone. A person who is dependent on them for their pain manages the pills just fine and isn't constantly running out early, borrowing, begging, etc... Of course is dependent on the pills for our pain would go through withdrawal if we suddenly stopped taking them, but there's a big difference between us and the addicts that don't have pain but take them in multiple doses to feel high. I recently was switched to the 10mg generic and it made me very sleepy and it didn't really help my pain (I was surprised). It's pink with the letters NP on one side and the 12 on the other...
But you can help them.out a little bit with that. If they will let you. And you love one and other.
tyvin, that pink 10 mg Oxycodone is manufactured by Zydus pharmaceuticals. I've personally never taken it, but I do take name brand Percocet prescribed by my pain doc; and have ever since my pharmacy switched to Alvogen oxycodone that didn't work at all for me. I'm very satisfied with the name brand Percocet, it works wonderfully for my pain! Good luck with everything, and take care.
I take same med, for several years now. Am one of those who does NOT abuse their neds. However I have made the mistake of "loaning" 2 or 3 till they "get their's filled" and of course I have learned and no longer am duped in this way. But it did cause me to be as many as four days short a couple of times and I just wonder what time period you are talking about that he uses them up for and goes into withdrawal because I never have and hate to say it but he may be "working" this as well., Be careful of you both and good luck.
I'm shocked and can't believe what I'm reading and feel helpless... I been on the 5 KVK for years and just switched to the 10's because frankly nothing really happens. I read all this anger toward KVK and I'm not alone and can't believe it. So the problem is Mallicroftt or what ever it is only makes them in 5 15 30 MG... No 10's or 20's.... So M is a problem. I here about actavis and I'm not sure to change to that. The red dye has been making me feel weird. I've been on them a month... And yes I take them and later on I'm sleepy lethargic and feel overall crappy. Takes hours to wear off and it happens all the time unless I'm lucky... This didn't used to happen when I took them in around 2005 something like that, I was euphoric not anymore. And I used to be on the 30 M's at that time. I was lowered over time from another MD... (thanks) And I remember the 30 mg M's weren't that effective either. If that's what I was on. So I switched to the OLD OC not OP ... And they.... worked like a charm. But since the crappy OP they also changed and are not as effective.. You apparently need a lot to make them effective but the problem I see these days there's just side effects or they feel like a placebo... I don't know, our society makes a big deal of these pharmaceuticals only to find that the one's you never get (dilaudid and demerol or whatever) are probably still effective but never are prescribed in this day in age because of the USA so called epidemic. I wonder how things are in the rest of the world... So back to my situation. I'm on the 10 mg Roxy's and I get from my ma and pa pharmacy is KVK. They told me I can order anything I want (do they make a brand of this instead of a generic or is that an issue also?) Basically I'm on the KVK, can't get the Mallicroft and not sure what is better. I read here a couple of one's but is there really a difference... You tell me... This whole thing stinks.
Just found out the Rite Aid near me carries that so called HORRIBLE ZYDUS 10 mg (which figures) and I was like no thanks... But Rite Aid unlike the ma and pa pharmacy I go to can order anything I want. But problem is everything I read here is either gone (Ethex) or terrible Actavis and the one I'm currently getting KVK which also has controversial issues... What the hell is good. I can't get the Mallinckrodt because I can't go back down to the 5's and I can't go up to the 15's.... The 30's Mallinckrodt which should work like all the other milligrams have this reputation as being the best roxicodone medicine. So I am at a lost... The question now is.... what are the good one's in 10 mg and unfortunately there is only a few and all them stink from what I hear and some of these companies don't make 10 or 20. I wish my MD could've gone up to 15 mg so at least I had a choice... I am at a crossroads. Isn't there anything good that works.... Thanks....
Love's the best. People in chronic pain have gone through it before and know they need relief. Be sympathetic.
I was taking 20mg of oxycodone 4x a day and was CHG to the kvk pharmaceutical brand from the zydus brand and feel like iam withdraw symptoms , I did nt feel before .. Help
Since make my complaint about kvk not work moved to a Extended release med ,, working good except for breakthrough pain need something else still.
Re: Susie (# 54)
If you go to this website, you can file a complaint with the FDA. This site also has the phone numbers for regional consumer complaint coordinators: fda.gov/Safety/ReportaProblem
Re: Susie (# 54)
Kvk makes the least expensive generic around that is why my pharmacy carries them, anytime u get a pill that is pink it has red dye, they also make 30 mg oxy which is tan, that has red, black and some other dye in it. Sorry memory shot, in intractable pain even tho dr switched manufacturer.
Re: Frog lady (# 56)
I don't think kvk is the whole problem. I think a number of generics have pain relieving potency issues. I also think this problem contributes to medication abuse, since the pills don't work like they should, so people take them more often. I tried two different brands and neither came close to percocet , from a long time ago.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Wrong, im a nurse and 10mg hcl is immediate release...and yes it does come in 10 mg..but Rhodes is a scam and I feel awful on it...
Re: Kfelix2014 (# 4)
I just switched pharmacies and the new pharmacy carries kvk, it doesn't seem to work. I found your review right on!
Re: Kfelix2014 (# 4)
I hope this website still works. Reading about KVK tech oxycodone. Now it’s 2018, not 2013, 5 years ago! I changed generic 10 mg oxy from zydus. To kvk. It causes extreme nausea (I’m sensitive to all opioids).... vomit with morphine, etc., but huge difference. It also as someone else commented causes drowsiness. I only take 5 mg at a time yet still had these effects. But seemed like better pain control. The zydus is so weak for pain relief. I tried 15 mg kvk too, also extreme nausea. (I always cut in half), or thirds with this one. I also tried dissolving in very small glass of water. The dye and particles fell to the bottom, and then I sipped the water on top as the oxy dissolves. Still I got nauseated! I tried to dissolve zydus and it doesn’t dissolve as well. Big difference. My pharmacist said some dissolve differently in the stomach. I hope this helps. I am hoping someone can help me too! I agree with many of these posts, it’s just appalling to have to deal with when you are in so much pain. (low back disk tears)... and sensitive to side effects. But the pain is agony. There isn’t a “choice”. Thank you. I also wondered if mallinckrodt bought kvk? Does anyone know?
Re: Mesa1 (# 59)
Does the Kvk cause you nausea?
I can’t take it because of this. Was curious if others experienced nausea ( a lot), with either the 10 or the 15? I cut them always in half.
Does IR version reduce nausea? Anyone???
Thanks
Chronic Pain Suffers, I live with someone that has chronic pain. He is addicted to Oxycodone and he asked me his girlfriend to give him his pain meds everyday so he does not run out or take more then he is prescribed. I have agreed to do this, but regularly he goes behind my back takes his own medicine and they he ends up short and goes through withdrawal. I am so angry and confused about the situation. I usually get mad and say I am not going to do this any longer, it makes no sense. I will go hunting down the med and borrow from others so I do not have to watch him go through withdrawal and can not stand how mean he gets when he is in withdrawal. Does anyone else out there help there spouse, friend or someone dear to them with there meds. I am at my wit ends of continuing to do the same thing and getting the same results, this is insanity and I think I have the problem I continue to stay in this unhealthy cycle. It almost feels like I am trapped and I cant get out. Any feedback or help from anyone would be appreciated.....Peace, out...Frustrated and tired.........
They work wonders for my pain. Only the KVK TECH Brand. KVK is about same if not equivalent to the Brand name ones I had for pain. They work amazing with very limited side effects. They take effect within 20min or less and 15min without food. I have tried others and wow the quality is just horrible and side effects as well. I get 180 a month of the 10mgs.
KVK is great.
Hi Sultrylady84.
Oh I'm so pleased to have found someone else that feels the same way I do. Yes, I totally agree with you...It drives me crazy too! I am having good results with pain relief from the Oxycodone 20mg by Kvk tech (,which everyone is complaining about here) for my chronic back pain from Denerative Disc Disease, 3 buldging discs in my liwer lumbar ( my L4..L5..and a compression frature at the T-1) Sciatica, & spinal stenosis. There may be some changes, as my last MRI was at the least 4 years ago.
I would like to here from those who are taking the Oxycodone 20 mg immediate release tabs by kvk tech , that are doing well with it's effectiveness on their chronic pain!
Used to be a couple to 3 years ago that Activis was in the headlines when they took over Watson's Percocet. NOW, on at issue, I agreed. I was taking Percocet 10/325 Mfg. Watson forever, then one month when I was due to refill...The pill looked completely different! It wasn't scored in the middle. I looked and the manufacturer was different, ACTIVIS. The lack of a score was a red flag to me that something was up. All narcotic pain medication is scored for the patient to be able to split. Well, I took one and had no pain relief and became extremly aggitated with a terrible headache. Looked into it, Long story short, they were using more fillers(obviously of stuff making people sick) n oxycodone.
That one I'll give everyone , but like you said pure oxycodone don't have fillers.
So, as sad as it is that kvk is not working for so many people for some reason, there's not a darn thing tjey can do to change it.
The pharmacy, (I'm a Walgreens customer) only gets what they are sent and they have no control over which manufacturers pills tjey t.
It's about the all mighty dollar, neither a battle war we can win.
Going back, Like I said I would like to hear from those who's experience taking the 20mg Oxycodone IR is positive...because I can't be the only one.
