I have to go three nights without it and I am very worried about withdrawal symptoms and lack of sleep. I have a pacemaker, high blood pressure, and a rare blood disorder called PNH. I recently ran out of Gabapentin and had severe withdrawal. I thought I going to die! BP went to 180/111, heart rate was erratic going from 38 bpm to 125 then back to my 100% paced rate of 60 over and over for hours. Is there something else that I can take that will offset the withdrawal symptoms but not interfere with the myleogram? ## Hi Butz, Have you ever considered looking into kratom as an option? My findings suggest that it could possibly help with at least some of the problems mentioned above. Antidepressant + Improves Blood Circulation [1...
My husband takes 2700 mg a day. Since his dose has been upped that high he has been experiencing severe shaking and tremors. His heart races and his muscles twitch as well. You can visibly see his body shaking. It is a constant state, not something that comes and goes. His doctor has yet to return his phone call. Has this happened to anyone else? ## Those can be side effects, especially at such a high dose, according to the NIH. He may also experience dizziness, nausea, weight gain, mood swings, and delusions. How long has he been taking this dose? Is he on any other medications? Has he heard from his doctor, yet?
prescribed gabapentin for fantom tooth pain. started at 100 mg for 5 days then upped to 200 mg. after 4 days at 200 mg started having constipation and lower back and side pain. At the fifteenth day I dropped the dose back to 100 mg and would like to get. completely off it. How should I proceed. ## Hello, Joel! How are you? The FDA classifies Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain, so it's not addictive like a narcotic would be and after only 15 days at such low doses, you can most likely just stop it, as long as our doctor approves. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Vermon, Thanks for the information. I am going t...
Is this drug safe to take with gabapentin 600 mg? Also what dosage? How often can it be taken? ## Does Rumoquin N.F. interact with Metoprolol 25 mg or Atorvastatin 40 mg ## @Brownie, Rumoquin NF contains a combination of diclofenac, methocarbamol and dexamethasone. Because these are all prescribed drugs, the doctor who is prescribing them to you should be aware of anything else you are taking alongside them. If your doctor didn't give you any dosing advice, I would recommend calling him/her asap. Ironically, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), diclofenac and dexamethasone have a "high interaction potential"; that is to say it is NOT recommended you take them together, which I find odd since they are both included in the s...
I am prescribed gabapentin 300mg capsule and 400mg capsule. I'm supposed to take two 300mg twice a day for 7 days. Then one 400mg twice a day for however long. Today I've taken three 300mg and one 400mg and its not helping. Am I taking to much? Will this hurt me or possibly overdose me? please help. ## Nope. One distance advantage of Gabapentin is you can take very high doses, some people take thousands of mgs in a day, and you almost never reach an OD effect. However, if you are thinking this is a pain pill or something that should give you some results or effects right away soon after you take it, you are misinformed. This is actually a drug that was approved for us to prevent epilepsy seizures and was shown to help with some types of nerve pain, so it is not a pain killer and...
just wanted to be safe then sorry i ran out of my medication of glyburid-metformin5-500mg and i wanted well i have been taking these other diabetic pills called gabapentin 600mg 3 times a day for relief to the pain im feeling in both of my feet i started on 6/28/2011 at 6:00p.m. i wanted to know if there's a doctor out there please let me know im doing the right thing dated: 6/29/2011 at 6:00p.m. on wednesday evening. thank you and good day ## I'm not a doctor, but I can provide you with information on the medication. Gabapentin is not an antidiabetic medication and it will not do anything to help control blood sugar levels and it will not work for pain, like a regular analgesic or narcotic would, either. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant medication, but it has been proven to help...
I am a 45 yr old woman who suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy and was prescribed nortriptylin cap 25 mg at bedtime and gabapentin tab 600 mg 3 times per day. I have had the following sypmtoms: unable to sleep at night but lathargic during the day, sweats, chills, cold like symptoms (runny nose, coughing, sneezing, phlegm in throat), headache, diaheria. I feel like I have the flu. I stopped taking my meds and some symptoms went away but the doctor asked me to get back on the meds and the symptoms came back....could it be coincidental that I am coming down with a cold or are these side effects from my meds? Please help or has anyone experience this? ## How long have you been taking them? Much of what you've listed are not typical side effects, though they have been experienced ...
I was on 300 mg of gabapentin for 3 months. I'm weaning off it by taking the 300 mg capsule every other day as per what the pharmacist recommended. How long should I do this? It's been a week. The days I don't take it I have a headache that just won't go away. I want to be done with this drug. ## Hi Yeb, Just wanted to congratulate you on doing your due diligence with weaning off gabapentin. It really sounds like you're on the right track with the pharmacists recommendations of dosing every other day. However I think in order to take it to the next step, you have to ask yourself what seems feasible based on how your body has already responded. All I can say is that it were me in this position I'd probably be very strategic about my approach; perhaps by going down...
My doctor prescribed me gabatin and I would like to know for what reason it was given? Please kindly let me know. ## Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. What condition caused you to see your doctor?
What is a white oval pill with G 31 printed on one side? Is it a narcotic? ## No, this tablet is manufactured by Glenmark Generics and they list it as containing 600mgs of Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat some mood disorders. and certain types of nerve pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?
i have took 8 neutotin. i have to take a urine and do blood work on the 13th of december. will this be out of my system by then? ## I have been off of gabapentin totally for almost 3 weeks now. I was on 900 mg but tapered off 100mg every3 weeks as my doctor instructed. I still have days when I just don't feel the greatest. I am also suffering from some depression, crying spells, lack of coordination and balance. How long will this continue? I feel like I have no quality of life right now. I am always tired and I can't do a thing. Please tell me that better days are coming real soon. I took nutritional supplement and minerals to help with the withdrawals. I started detoxing last August. I have done a few 200 mg every 3 weeks to speed up the process of quitting this awful drug. Th...

For over 20 years I suffer and I really mean suffer from chronic fatigue and restless legs. There is hardly any energy. And life is not very pleasurable. I know that many people do have that problem to. but there is no cure. Thanks Hetty. ## a holistic daughter prescribed my daughter Standard Process Beta Food, and it went away. Also cleanse. There's pill forms. Inquire on amazon for both ## I also have this problem. I don't have the typical restless legs so much as I have the periodic limb movement disorder and never feel rested. I also have apnea and use a c pap machine but it never has made any difference in feeling better. I just started on 300 mg gabapentin but not sure if it is going to help. So far it seems to give me anxiety upon waking. Iron is a huge connection to rest...
Hi, Im 37yr. old caucasian male. Im in methadone maintenance, and i have begun slowly taperin off it. I take 90mg methadone, 30mg oxazepam morning only, and now I tried recreational dosage gabapentin (neurontin). I learned, that for fun, its worth of nothing except poisoning own body. Dose of gabapentin was 7x300 = 2100mg. Passive smoke is impossible, and I haven eat any hemp pruducts. I blame that false positive Gabapentin.. can it really be so? ## Hi Deadboy, I am currently in the same situation! I also am treated for opiate dependency at a methadone clinic. The dr at the clinic prescribed me 300mg 3x's a day of Neurontin and I am now testing positive for thc and I DO NOT SMOKE! I have recently quit the medication and I am waiting. This my last drug screen to come back. Thus is ru...
My daughter is disabled, non verbal and has severe self hitting behavior issues. She is blind due to retina detachment. She got multiple surgeries for retina reattachment. She still has silicon oil in her eyes to hold the retina in place. From the last two years she has been complaining about some kind of pain but not sure where the pain could be. She tries to punch her head and ears a lot. She is getting treatment by doctors for pain relief but it is not helping. Right now she is getting gabapentin 900mg three times daily along with Cymbalta, Lorazepam and Trileptal. Only her sleeping issue is a little better but she is still continuously uncomfortable with pain. Doctors think it could be behavior temper tantrum attacks. Is there any other doctor who can advise us on how to improve the...
Is there a 100mg tablet of gabapentin? I have heard there is but have only been told or heard of 300mg or 600mg. Can you confirm this for me please? ## Yes, there is a 100 dose, it's what I started on about 12 years ago. Mine was in capsule form. ## Donna is correct. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Is there anything else we can help with?
I have been on gabapentin for a about 4 months. Just in the past 4 weeks I have noticed horrible muscle pain in both legs (taking the med for nerve pain in left leg). I don't see the pain doctor until after Christmas, so was wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this, yet another, pain. ## Hi Linda, Based on my research, pain or swelling in the arms or legs is one of the less common side effects of Gabapentin. You can follow the link for more info: mayoclinic.com/health/drug-information/DR600709/DSECTION=side-effects I hope this helps! ## Thank you for the info. I take so many meds it might be hard to decide which one might be causing this new pain. I am having a spinal cord stimulator put in after the first part of the year. I am hoping I can get off all meds after that:) ...
My daughter has celiac disease and also is taking Gabapentin. Does this medication contain ANY substance that contains or is derived from gluten containing source. Is there any know adverse effects in Celiac patients as a result of taking gabapentin ## Chris, just this evening I began to check out my meds re gluten fillers. Neurontin is the brand name and DOES NOT contain gluten, whereas the generic equivalent-Gabapentin DOES use gluten as a filler. This has been found at www.glutenfreedrugs.com ## Actually, there are some generics that are gluten-free too. I also have Celiac disease and take the 300mg capsules made by Greenstone and I've never had a reaction. Once my prescription was filled with the generic from Apotex and I took one pill and felt horrible for a solid week. BTW - t...
my son (34) took 90 gabapentin (100mg) pills in a two day period. What are the side effects of this as he is also undergoing ECT treatment 3 days a week and he took that many pills before undergoing his 3rd treatment. ## Your son is undergoing ETC three times a week!? May I ask why n what for. If he's never taken the medication before then he'll feel side effects such as drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, possible seizure (s), mood change, hostility OR extreme sociability. The list is too long to list here, but those are the major side effects. The half-life of the drug isn't very long, I believe 5-7 hrs...so it may have been out of his system by the time he went.... ## @Gayle, Anyone who's taken 90 tablets of Gabapentin in a two day period should probably call poison contro...
Can i take 500mg methocarbamal and 300mg gabapentin and what are the side effects ## Hi babygurl, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Methocarbamol and Gabapentin. However, cross referencing this on other webpages has brought up a notation about Methocarbamol and Gabapentin potentially causing an increase in certain side effects, such as an impaired cognitive function, dizziness, and drowsiness. Other than that, it seems to me like there shouldn't be any complications outside of their own individual list of side effects. Furthermore, in the event that you ever did experience these side effects (knock on wood) you can always work with your doctor on developing a dosing schedule that helps minimize this risk of interaction betw...
