Gabapentin For Restless Leg Syndrome
UpdatedI was just given a prescription for gabapentin 300mg 90 minutes before bedtime. Can increase 300mg every night to a max of 1200. This increase is weekly. I have symptoms of restless leg syndrome but my problem is much more than RLS. I have heavy legs and problems with balance. I was on Requip with some help to the symptoms but developed compulsive gambling problem. Is anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice for me as to what to expect. I have had this problem for over 5 years. It started with just kinda stubbing your toe as I walked and progressed to turing to walk a certain direction and my upper body moved but my legs did not follow. Things like stepping up on a curb became something to think about and prepare for before I attempted it. My legs and ankles tire easily. The nuerologist just tells me there are some things we do not know and this is one of them? I have had MRI from head to toe and no results. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

How old were you when you when you first got symptoms? Those are very different symptoms than i would have and diagnosed if they are a bit apa. I did not find out there was a name for the symptoms until saw the name for what issues that i was experiencing. With out being
medicated i would have 5-7 attaches a week. What works for me something like a light opiate like Darvon N-100(not really an opiate but close) Vickinden, A doctor would not give me an opiate for my condition and mentioned the medican that used to be advertised on TV Re quip (noticed you see it is not advertised anymore.) The stuff worked but after a about 2 months i was having thoughts of suicide. Opiates are the way to go. The take so many of things at bay, Depression, Pain. Helps with my ADD even with the other meds i can take my d-amph and have low BP
Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat some types of nerve pain, and mental health issues. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes.
It is very hard to say what has caused your issues, since your MRI didn't show anything. Are you on any other medications?
Is the issue possibly age related? You don't mention how old you are, so please forgive me for asking.
Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions?
Do ur legs and feet burn tingle and you can't balance urself
I was on Requip generic for RLS but quit taking it when I had to take pain meds following surgery. Discovered taking both was dangerous. But, I found that taking Magnesium supplements completely reversed the problem. No more RLS although it shows up on occasion if I've had an alcoholic drink. This worked for me.
