Gabapentin 300mg - Twice Daily

I have been taking the Gabapentin for three months now and initially I saw a great improvement, but not as much anymore. I have noticed if I do not have anything in my stomach when I take them that I feel even worse - dizzy, nauseous, and confused - basically drunk without any of the good feelings of being drunk LOL. But I have also noticed this feeling mildly even when I do have food in my stomach when taking them. This makes driving at all for more than a very short distance unnerving. I am not sure if anything can be done about this or if perhaps I should try a different medication? I am also curious if I can exercise while taking this medication. Is light weight training and cardio okay? My concern is the loss of balance issue at times that I cannot predict at all. I can just see myself trying to use the elliptical and falling off and bashing my head in. Last, but not least I had been having pretty strong aversion to light for a while (when I first started) but it seems to have gone away or at least minimized quite a bit. Should I be concerned at all?

Hello, Chris! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having.

And yes, if it's causing such symptoms after 3 months, even if you eat before taking it, then you should speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Usually, such side effects only last 4 to 6 weeks. So, it just might not be the right medication for you.

Is there anything else I can help with?
