Given Megestrol For Post Menopausal Bleeding Thickened Uterus

I am petrified to take this pill. I am already significantly overweight with large abdominal hernias. Makes it difficult to walk. I am almost 60 and a heavy smoker. Is my doctor trying to kill me? My god... he said if I didn't take it I would probably develop uterine cancer as my lining is thick and I have heavy bleeding every month or so lasint 15 days or more. Anyone know of other options? I CANNOT GAIN MORE WEIGHT....

Yes, there is a procedure they can do, basically a type of D&C that would effectively achieve the same thing, it removes the built up lining.

However, if have heavy bleeding every month, it's odd that your lining would be that thick, that usually happens, when women don't bleed or have extremely light periods.

You're almost 60 and should be menopausal, really. It's odd that you're still cycling, at all. Has he checked your hormone levels?
