Gaba Dicl Cream

Updated

Does the cream actually go through your bloodstream? I have taken Gabapentin in the past which started out okay for a while, but then I had an issue with it & went off the pill form of the medication. I was told since it doesn't go through your bloodstream that the cream should be fine. Please let me know what you think and also if you know whether it's true about it not going into your bloodstream and causing any of the same side effects as the pill form. Thank you.

Hello, Diane! How are you?

A little does, but just trace amounts, not any significant amount that should cause side effects or reactions. Most of the reactions to these topical creams are limited to skin irritation wherever you applied it.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Thank you, that helped me quite a bit! There are tons of things I could use help with regarding my neuropathy. I still keep thinking there has to be an actual cause. I have none of the illnesses or other reasons they say that brings on neuropathy. I had no warning either. I just woke up 1 day & there was a very very tiny hard stone like thing in my carpet I stepped on it & felt a sharp nail went thru my foot. It basically at first started with pain & issues in my toes moving quickly to my feet & have been using a cane now for a couple of years or so (balance issues) & have major issues trying to wear shoes, can't wear socks. I started recently checking on my my long-term medications... which are diovan (blood pressure med) & protonix (acid reflux med) both of which I was on prior to the neuropathy. Have you heard of either of these bringing on neuropathy. Probably especially the diovan because I've looked it up online & quite a few people had this reaction they say from taking diovan. I had been on 80 mg daily & recently have gone down to 40 mg daily. I've noticed no change with it. The only medication that I can take without side effects regarding the pain is narcotic pain meds. Basically been alternating oxicodone & MS Contin which I'm currently taking. It really just barely takes the edge off . If I do walk at all, like through the grocery store or have to go clothes shopping I pretty much have unbearable pain after & have the hardest time falling asleep because of it, even when taking my pain med. Anyhow I know I said a lot prkbably too much & long winded but I thought the more I tell you the better, if you have any thoughts at all I would truly appreciate it if you could share them with me. Nothing is too small or too silly. Thank you again for your response, it's greatly appreciated. Can I ask if your a doctor or in some area of medicine/medication or are you a patient with neuropathy? I've never reached out it this way ever but I'm at my wits end. I feel like I'm missing out on so much of my life ( yes I'm grateful that it's not worse & I know there are so many who have much more to deal with but not to be selfish but it doesn't always lessen how I personally feel) I live in an apartment complex with a lot of seniors & people with disabilities & I hear some of them talk about their neouropathy & i dont feel like im on the same level as any of them it seems to be a much more painful experience for me. of course i wish my pain like i have on noone but it just seems so suprising to me. i wish i could be like them to some point I don't want to always be in so much pain 24/7 & who would. I'm 51 years old & this started in my mid 40's & can't enjoy so many small things that others who aren't worse off take advantage of... like going for a nice walk outside just around the block. I'm not trying to have a pity party for myself & take it all in stride for the most part I'm just having a difficult time dealing with it right now.

Lola, my best guess is that the drugs which are abbreviated Dicl/gaba/bacl/doxe correspond with Diclofenac / Gabapentin / Baclofen / Doxepin. They are used for treating pain / muscle spasms / topical itching relief. May I ask what it was prescribed for?

Alicia, can you get your doctor to write you a prescription and then take it into a compounding pharmacy?
