From Two 80 Mg. Four Times A Day Of Oxycontin To Nothing (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy Doctor is afraid to prescribe pain pills even though she's been prescribing them to me for the last twelve years for Chronic Intractable Pain. I have been going through hell. She finally gave me two low dose MS Morphine tablets a day just to shut me up but is very insistent that I find a new doctor even though she has said herself that I will have a problem finding a doctor to take over prescribing my amount of medications. I am going to look in to hiring an attorney and suing for Medical Malpractice but I don't really know if a lawyer would even feel that I have a case. Does anyone have an opinion about this? I am in so much pain. I have not been able to get up from my bed or couch since January that's how bad the pain is. Please tell me what you think?

Hello, Robin! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having.
However, no you do not have a case. No doctor is under any obligation to treat you or prescribe anything, unless you are in life threatening danger and, even then, they only have to treat you until you're stable!
And there were new regulations put in place last year that severely restrict what a PCP can and cannot prescribe, how much of it they can prescribe and the reasons why they can prescribe it. Thus, if you need to continue on such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist.
Has your doctor mentioned referring you to someone? That would be the easiest way to get in with a new doctor and get the help you need.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Yes, she sent me to a pain management Doctor. It's a wait for my appointment . I appreciate you taking the time to write.
I would sue she put you on them getting you a addicted to them so throw it back at her. Did she give u anything for withdrawal?
Hello I truly understand. I'm looking for a Attorney my self. I have been treated for chronic pain. From several issues. I went to a pain center. This Dr did a back injection on me with out ever looking at MRI or file. Now im wories than I was before. But even asking what was offered over just medication. I was told nothing. So the more I asked what to do. They just let me go. Now what this Dr just made me wories and no one seems to care. Drs have become so scared of medical malpractice for drugs. But this one needs to be worrying about not caring and or offering any answer. But now he made me look bad. Need a Attorney here in Indianapolis. In HELP
There should be a pain specialist MD or APRN near you. They have different pain scales from regular MD's and they worry more about what they give you that will help you but not get you addicted. I have a MD I would like to sue too but that's a very, very expensive job even IF you win. You had your back inj'ed. Have you gone for the inj's. to burn the nerves that cause the pain in your back? Then, if that is not totally successful, you can have sinvic (sp?) inj'ed between vertebrae and if that also fails then you get your back cemented as the VERY LAST RESORT. The miserable pills are only a substitute until you get the real deal. Sorry. We are in the same boat and that's the way it floats I found out.
