From Dilaudid To Hysingla (Top voted first)

I have been on 8mg Dilaudid and 80mg hydrocodone for about 4 yrs. My doctor now changed me to Hysingla (hope that's right spelling). Anyways, they are 80mg, but had to change back because they didn't work as well. Now he's telling me that between the 2, I'm taking like 12 times the amount of the highest does of morphine given out and is now sending me to a pain doctor. Is that true?

No, you are not taking 12 times the highest dose of Morphine, but you are exceeding the highest dose that the DEA recommends. They have issued directives that doses be limited to no more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine, per day, some states have lowered it further to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine, per day. You are currently taking roughly twice that. The only exceptions are for those who are suffering pain due to possibly fatal conditions, such as stage 4 cancer.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
