I have been using daflon 500 mg since March 25th 4 tablets twice a daily to cure hemorrhoids and I am feeling much better now but it seems I should continue using this medicine for complete cure. I am wondering for how long I should use it. Thanks for your reply

I have been suffering from internal hammoroids for over 15 years. Till a year ago, I used to have frequent bleeding. I consulted a famous gastroenterologist and he, after conducting endoscopy test, said surgical treatment was not necessary and prescribed daflon 500 for consuming one tab daily. He also advised to apply Proctosedyl ointment when bleeding occurs. After using these two for over three months, I feel much better now and bleeding has also become much less frequent. But, I would like to know how long I can take these medicines. Will there be any adverse affects if I take daflon 500 one capsule per day for several months continuously? Also, please clarify if it is an antibiotic medicine. What are the adverse affects if Proctosedyl is applied frequently over a long period?

I have been suffering hemorrhoids for 25 years ,I am too much afraid when it bleeds. I have tried different kinds of medicine, but when I stop taking those medicines ,maybe after 2 months ,again it bleeds, now I have tried these Daflon 500, I feel much better in these medicine my feeling is normal I can feel no side effect, I'm taking 3 tab.a day is this right ,because I'm afraid to take 6 tablets a day, I'm 59 years old.when I stop taking after 1 month my hemorrhoid again,bleeds. I think you should not be taking 4 a day for a long period
the dosage recommended is 2 tablets 3 times a day for 4 days
2 tablets 2 times a day for 3 days
2 tablets a day thereafter
Possibly you need another medication or get your GP to make a further examination

Daflon is actually a supplement given to help with such conditions, it is not, however, a medication.
As such, there is no harm in its use, as long as you are not taking far too much and only your doctor could really advise you as to whether or not you should continue to use it for them.
What has your doctor suggested?
