I opened and crunched 24 focal xr 15mg capsules in about 14-16 hrs. I have a very high tolerance to any drug, and I'm a small female. I feel shaky but ok. Is that too much? Just a waste probably- the buzz didn't get better.... ## From what I could gather, Doses above 30 mg/day in pediatrics and 40 mg/day in adults have not been studied and are not recommended. There is also no body of evidence available from controlled trials to indicate how long the patient with ADHD should be treated with Focalin XR. So if you're using Focalin XR (Dexmethylphenidate Hydrochloride) in a recreational manner, I would still play it safe and definitely steer clear from taking so many capsules. last month I had to drive 1hr to find 10mg Focalin. Doc increased it to 15mg. Nowhere to be found in or near Brooksville FL. Pharmacies say they can order it but can't guarantee they'll get it??? How can a medication simply not be available?? Called my hometown pharmacy in CT, they fedex'd it to me, apparently there's plenty in CT but not in FL? I was prescribed this for a period of time and then there was some drug shortage and had to rotate between the numerous generics of Ritalin until it was available, some worked great and others were horrible and since generic focalin was approved under my insurance (TEVA 93 5277 10 mg white round pills) and my insurance has a mail order service and few people are on it so they have a rather abundant supply I switched back. ADD/HD Medication, where can I find Focalin IR in the Ft. Worth, Texas area? My 11 yo. son is taking 10 mg. Focalin XR in AM, and prescribed 10 mg Foclin IR at noon, but cannot find it. ## Hi, I just got put on Focalin 2 weeks ago and still have yet to find a Pharmacy that has it or is willing to order it in Austin, TX. I feel your pain. Do you think its a Texas thing or is this shortage happening all over? Was wondering if Texas might have stricter regulations on Focalin compared to other states.

I have three children but,only my two oldest have been diagnosed with ADHD.The doctor has had both of them on two different meds. and Ritalin now they are on Folican.Nothing seems to work they are violent toward others,make threats against others,they're school grades are awful,and they don't listen to anything.I just don't know how to help them or what kind of meds they need to be on if any.Please if anyone knows how to help me please do. ## My oldest had ADHD, and we had tried everything! Why waste money on Focalin when Ritalin is the same thing? It just contains the active as well as the inactive form (they are mirror-images or enantiomers). The inactive form has never been demonstrated to be harmful so why bother to remove it? It is costly to do this. Here is why: to prolong the patent coverage (read profit). NOTE: in some drugs the mirror image form can be harmful but not in this case. I'm a PhD organic chemist by the way, not a Pharm. D., but I know the pharmaceutical industry. You should ask a Pharm. D (not just a pharmacist) at your hospital pharmacy (you should always confirm what ANYBODY says on the internet). BE CRITICAL. Ciao.

Anxiety ## This drug helped me focus but made me very adjatated. I would not recommend this drug. Try Fobulin. It work much better. ## I believe the individual who posted first meant Focalin not Fobulin, however, Focalin (an extended release version of a single side-isomer of methylphenidate [=Ritalin]), a stimulant ADHD medication. Stratterra is a non-stimulant ADHD medication, and while this lowers numerous side-effects, removes the possibility of addiction and/or abuse. Though this sounds wonderful in light of stimulants' many downfalls, the medicine itself does not work very well, and has fallen almost completely out of vogue with psychiatrists except in cases of a comorbid previous addiction problem. I need to ask about this drug Facalin? My son takes this drug and I am wondering what the side affects are? ## I'm wondering the same thing. My son recently started taking Focalin. He is 7 and is having a hard time swallowing the pill (not capsule). Is it still effective when crushed and put in applesause? ## Yes. It works crushed and mixed in pudding, too! ## Does 'Foculin' come in a long-acting form? Like Concerta ## Focalin XR works well for my son, and lasts about 9 hours.
