I was injected with Morphine and they missed twice. I now have two bumps on my arm and my arm is in pain. What should I do?

Hello, Jesse! How are you?

If this was administered by a medical professional, such as a doctor or nurse, then what you have is just a liquid bolus that results from improperly doing it or doing it too fast. In this case, the bumps will eventually go away on their own in a week or so. Though some gentle rubbing may help to break up the bubble of Morphine, so it will be forced into the surrounding tissue and processed out faster, this can also be done immediately after to prevent this from occurring, unless a doctor tells you not to do so for some reason.

Alternatively, if someone else administered it and it wasn't with something that was originally formulated for such use, then you should see your doctor immediately. It may have created a blockage that could work like a blood clot. If it cuts off blood flow, you could develop tissue necrosis that may result in limb amputation, or it could break loose and move to your heart, lungs, or brain.

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
