After childbirth my doctor put me on sprintec 28 pack. I started on a sunday. I have two blue pills left and 7 white ones. My period start today. I call my doctor and he told me to finish the whole 7 white pills before starting a new pack. I'm confused because i thought that the white pills have no active medicine so im wondering am i going to be protected during that week and not get pregnant or should i not have sex during that week. Should i start a new pack after my period is done. Omg i dont know what to do. Someone please help

Hi, Rubi! Sorry about the confusion.

Normally, you should just finish the entire pack, including all of the white pills as your doctor instructed, even though you already started menstruating. It is normal for things to be a little off for the first two to three months that you are taking them, so you may get some breakthrough bleeding such as this or some spotting, because your body is trying to adjust to the added hormones in these pills.

And no, as long as you don't miss any active ones, you don't have a risk of getting pregnant.

But in other words, just continue taking them, the blue ones and then the white ones, then start a new pack.

Is there anything else I can help with?
