Fiorinal Update - Not Controlled, Capsules Only, 300 Tylenol
(Newest replies first)
Updated
Here's some definitive info from Actavis who bought out Watson.
fioricet.com
Briefly: New formulation is out because of FDA requirements (reduces Tylenol from 325 to 300). No change to Butalbital or caffeine mg's
Tablets are discontinued. Only capsules are available.
The formulation without Codeine is NOT a schedule III drug (Actavis received an FDA exemption)
If your doc writes for tabs you may want to discuss having him alter the scrip so that it doesn't get bounced. The good news is that it looks like the Brand Name will still be available.
I had GREAT luck with West Ward for over 30 years. The white tabs by Qualitest suck so I'm going to pay the extra and go for the Brand to see how well it works.
Good luck everyone.

After responding to this post, I remembered that a few years ago, there were many on here made by people with similar complaints about the generic formulations not working for them, though I don't remember any one specific manufacturer being mentioned.
However, there were a lot of people posting online complaining that they couldn't find the name brand in stock anywhere, and they were miserable taking the generics.
I really hope this doesn't point to a repeat of that type of problem.
Marie, I am very sorry about the problem you're having with the Fiorinal from that manufacturer not working for you.
Lannett is a well known manufacturer, they make a few different generic medications. However, not every generic works for everyone that tries it. There is really no specific one that can be recommended, since we are all different, and it really just depends on finding one that works for you.
Have you had any luck, yet?
Has anyone ever heard of the mfg, of butalbital being named...(Lannett Co)??? I have not heard one person on here with this manufacturer name for this medicine.. Would love some input, they don't work at all like others I used to get. Thank all who help!!! Very grateful!!! God Bless I have a bad bladder disease, called ic and I need different brand that is good.
